Blades members only i'm afraid. (And season ticket holders)

(You'll better hope you have loyalty points too.....)

I should bloody well think so too. Least they could do since i'm unlikely to reap the benefits of being a member.

If you intend to go to 8 home games a season then it's worth your while as it pays for itself. It doesn't affect ST holders so the only people affected are those who just go to a few away games a season. Call it the Cockerney Card ;)

So, for example, if I decide to go to the Notts County away game, it's effectively going to cost me £38. Bit steep for third division football.

So does that mean, although i have around 10k loyalty points, they will be worth fuck all when it comes to away games because i don't have a season ticket, nor a £15 membership?

Will that still apply for the 1st round of the league cup? I somehow doubt it.

Well all you'll need to do is get in touch with someone with either a ST or a membership card to buy a ticket on your behalf

You should've got a season ticket ;)

Surely if you have 10k loyalty points you're going to more than 6-8 home games a year? Therefore the membership will benefit you regardless of away games.

I could probably do that, but any new system should be good enough to make it reasonable for any customer. I usually go with another 10 or so scandinavian Blades and there are more foreigners in our situation. If United don't play fair, I reckon some people will just buy home tickets, ie. sit with the Notts County supporters.

The way i see it, next seasons away games are going to cost me a couple of quid each extra. I will probably not make it to Bramall lane next season.

Bergen is hitting on a good point here. Having people registered to your database of customers is one thing. Making them pay a membership fee to obtain tickets they still have to pay for is something else altogether. Those of us that only get to a handful of games a season just will not bother and just buy for the home sections.

Alienating most of their exiled fans with this move.

Is this confirmed? I can see the sense in members getting priority over non members in ticket allocations (as has been the case for years) but having to be a member to get a ticket?

IF true is this part of the sustained attack on non ST holders/false Blades to teach us a lesson for not renewing?

Why not make it compulsory to have a membership card to buy home tickets too?

Seems the club policy for non ST holders is to force them to be ST holders or force them away from the club. Interesting marketing strategy and a fascinating way to treat your fans/customers given the state of United, the state of football and the state of the country.

And after the reasons for the fixture list fiasco and resultant loss of revenue - the Donny races discount is hilarious, couldn't make it up. Shame most of our fans still can't smell the coffee.

I live in the US and see one, maybe two away games each season. The club already has my details on the computer. I am a former season ticket holder and have been supporting the club for over 30 years.

If I'm asked to pay a $15 "membership" on top of the match ticket to attend Wycombe away (probably the only game I will get to before the new year) I'll just go on the home end instead. It strikes me as a pure money making exercise, what Americans refer to as "nickel and diming"

Good point SE all blades fans dont live in sheffield , the club are making increasingly difficult for us exiles

To play devil's advocate, a fan/customer will probably attend more than one away game in a season. Admittedly, you do wonder why they are making it harder, and more costly for the infrequent fan and it may stop some fans from attending away games but as others have said, they also don't have the cost of processing a sale from which they get no benefit.

I'd like to tell the club what I think of the new scheme. Is Richard Batho still the man to contact with such a matter?

We're becoming more and more like Leeds with every change...

This is a system they adopted to a lot of critaism from their fans and others. We also too their idea of charging fans a "booking fee" which was soon quashed when it was actually thought through.

Marching on together.

We're all Leeds ar.... urm Blades aren't we?

A someone has pointed out in another thread, the number of people this adversely affects (Ie those that do not attend home games so will not get the home discounts) must be pretty small, so this just seems like a penny pinching move to me How much will united be making off this? I'd wager it's less than a weeks wages for Ched.

Realistically how many people will it affect? Many.

How many will actually buy a membership because they want to go to away games but won`t attend any home games? Not so many. I'll probably try and beg, borrow or steal a loyalty account to get my Walsall tickets.

I'd be surprised if they get more than 100 exiles like myself to sign up. £1500. And a lot of disgruntled fans...

More accurate now

Absolutely spot on.

I'm now in my 60s so a concession, but I won't buy a season ticket on principal, nothing to do with deadlines, so I attend games on as I like basis, which of course makes me a non-true Blade (been supporting them for over 50 years & ex-season ticket holder for most of that time).

I'm not paying £15 membership, whether it's value for money or not, so if I want to go into an away game I either go in the home end or buy an executive box / place for the day, at places like Notts Co, etc. I don't live in Sheffield, so the home team will be happy enough.

Another PR farce.

Can't beat United for contrary fans.

Good old united only true blades at the lane and now only membership holders can follow them away. Am happy to sit in the home end, am not one to cause trouble, we normally get sod all away anyway.

As an another exile I will have to go in the home end. Appointing Wilson and now making it hard to go to away matches, the club are really encouraging me to hit the motorways!!!

'we want our fans to be our 12th man'....but only if you pay at least £500 for a st or £15 for memebership for away games....well no 12th man ere

Those loyalty points came when i had a season ticket for around 3 years after leaving school.

I barely get to go to any games nowadays so the membership will not be beneficial and Carlisle and Hartlepool are local so they are easier to get to. If the club don't want fans going then so be it.

It's a good deterrent to stop people going to any away games if they only intend to go to 1, 2 or 3 in the season.
