I have only just seen his resemblance to Freddie Mercury, Its the Tash I think. RIP Mel we all appreciatted you.

RIP fella!

First thing I thought about on Monday when I got inside the ground was Mel walking around the old wembley before the semi-final.

RIP.

That's also one of my most vivid memories of my first visit to see the Blades at Wembley. I too thought of it upon arriving this time around.

The memory of Mel Rees walking out at wembley and the reception he got (from both sets of fans) still brings a lump to the throat!!. God Bless Him, RIP Mel.

Just bumping this thread, today is the anniversary of the death of Mel.

Can't believe it was so long ago now!

R.I.P Blade.

Yes, 3rd choice I think. Tracey and Phil Kite were both injured.

I still have the article from the mail or express about how he was fighting the cancer. At the time I thought he was brilliant and how lucky we were to have so many excellent keepers.

RIP Mel Rees

RIP Mel, his performance at Everton that season was onhe of the best I have ever seen.

RIP MEL

I also remember his performance at Everton. Remember every blade singing Wales no1 to him seeing as big Nev was in Evertons goal - he was even applauding some of his saves

Sadly missed, not just for the good memories of games played such as the few listed in this thread, but more for the potential that was never fulfilled.

RIP Mel

Everton away one of the best goal-keeping performances I've seen.

Absolutely a fabulous Keeper, even though we saw him to briefly, the reception at Wembley was both heart warming and tear jerking...... Gone to young and to soon
