Does the FIFA rule only apply to permanent moves? Basically we still hold McNulty's registration so he can be loaned out more than once and play for more than 2 clubs, but can't be sold more than once in a year?

Some on the Bradford forum are claiming he's come back to us. They are mostly delighted about it and are making such quips as "don't get our hopes up, that would be cruel."

I can't imagine he's coming back to be in the squad so I wonder if he has come back then we have found a buyer for him

Get him back ASAP...................................... Then sell him to Bradford!

Job done ( Kerching ) :D

dear mr evans
thanks for costing us promotion to our great rivals.. please fuck off
yours etc
Whenever this point is made I'll ask the same question....

What made that failed promotion Evans' fault? There's no reasonable answer...

Are there any rules in place which limit how many clubs a player can play for in one season?

Currently under the FIFA Transfer Regulations a football player is unable to play for more than three teams in one season. This applies whether the player has been transferred or simply is on loan with that club.

This also applies regardless of what country that player has plied his trade in, whether that is in Europe, Africa or South America. As long as a player has represented a club in a league under the adjudication of a FIFA Member Association they will only be able to play for three different clubs.

However, this does mean that a football player is free to represent a total of three different clubs in any league in the world over the course of one season.

Article 5.3 of Fifa’s regulations on the status and transfer of players states: “Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs.”

Diego De Adidas Athlete played for us, York and Northampton the other year I believe?

I don't think he played for us.....might be wrong....which would mean he was registered with 3 clubs but played for only 2....

So reading that he couldn't play for Chesterfield but could go back to Scotland?

The two key words are "more than".

He can play for three ,so can come back to us and go somewhere else, either on loan or permanently.

So why does it then say a player can be "registered with 3 but play for a maximum of 2"..?

This is the exact reason there have been previous problems and the 3rd team played for has been described as an "emergency" loan to create the loophole to get around the issue. The exception is if a player goes to play I a different country.

Therefore as I said before, he can't sign for Chesterfield but could go back to Scotland.

Some Bradford fans think he's been recalled as cover for the injured Clarke, and they couldn't be happier, given there struggles with strikers I think that says it all about him and what level he's at.

You have to commend Wilder's judgement in letting a striker go to rival. Presumably he knew exactly what McNulty would offer them.

Edit. Oh....
