I was livid at how McFadzean had carelessly lost possession on the right but we then won the ball back and then the ball moved to the left for Murphy to carry the ball upfield before making that low cross for McFadzean to score despite that a few seconds earlier McFadzean was picking himself from the floor after losing possession. It is unusual for a player to make a bad mistake (or shall I say it was a good mistake?) in a move that led him to scoring!

True but at least he got off his arse and into position to score which is something Kitson and Porter didn't manage to do all night and they are experienced strikers apparently.

I think Porter did fairly well Bladesman. I don't think he had the necessary support sometimes though when he was holding the ball up (ie Kitson was too slow getting into the box) . I agree that McFadzean did well to get in the position he did to score though. He looked like he really wants to get into the first team.

Porter played well and never stopped running.

His run, pass and decoy run contributed heavily to McFadzean's goal.

I wouldn't criticise Porter, he was great last night. He did everything you could ask of him apart from getting a goal.

He was alright but him Kitson are too similar to play alongside each other.
To be honest it works if Porter puts in the shift like last night and run everyone down, there is no reason why you can't have two big lads up front if one is willing to do the closing down/ the chasing for the ball.
Porter showed that last night and against Swindon that he has the pace and skill top beat players and as a big lad the opposition must not like him chasing it down compared to a Forte/ Sharp/ Webber player.
If he and Kitson played the target man then yes there will be no point in playing both, but it looks like Porter is willing to adapt, which I give him credit for.

It wouldn't be so bad if they did play alongside each other but Porter plays where he's supposed to and Kitson plays about 20 or 30 yards behind him.

Porter's great work in closing down defenders is wasted because he gets no help - remember how Evans and Cresswell used to defend from the front as a pair?

Porter's flick ons are wasted because there's no-one close enough to him to get on to them.

I thought Porter was man of the match last night and I thought Kitson cheated him.

If we are to go up, Morgan needs to tell Kitson that his free role is a thing of the past and he needs to play in a centre forward position and he needs to tell him to put 90% effort into playing and 10% into a running battle with the referee rather than the other way round as he is doing at present.

Agree. For one last game, Kitson needs to play against their last man, stop looking for fouls and look to win headers and stop antagonising the referee.

Has he really been told to play as deep as he is playing ? If he's doing what he wants to do, it isn't helping.

to fuck off

Just looked it up and Kitson has given away more fouls than anyone else in League 1 - 73.

Counter productive.

The problem is Kitson not Porter. Although a better player and a more likely goal scorer he is either unwilling or unable to put the effort in. He just looks for free kicks all the time and referees have got him worked out. It is annoying how he stands there moaning whilst his opponent runs away with the ball. Sadly as we have no one else in the side that remotely looks like scoring we have to persist with him.
