McCallum’s right foot?

Strange thread
It makes complete sense to me. It’s a reference to the fact that when faced with an open goal which needed an easy right foot tap in, the lad inexplicably decided to hit it with his left, a much more difficult manoeuvre which saw the ball balloon over the bar. That led to a nervy last 15 minutes or so rather than give us a comfortable 2 goal cushion.

I hadn’t realised before, but he’s clearly very one footed.

A lot of professional players are, which still surprises me. If I was them I would practice every day until I had improved that foot enough to be able to, at least, put the ball in a near empty net, from 5 yards.

I understood the topic & maybe I’m being the thread police - it’s hump day so I’m being mardy.

I didn’t feel it warranted a fresh thread to talk about his right foot.

While we’re on the topic though, yes he should have took that chance with his right foot 😂

It's quite common for left footed players to be crap on their right. Whereas right footed players will use their left a bit more.

How often did Giggs and Roberto Carlos etc. use their right?

There's probably a medical reason for it. Something in the makeup of the brain that made them left footed in the first place

We don’t see so many one footed players these days but it used to be a thing…

Good point - they're all FREAKS

It's not necessarily a problem that he's all left foot. When it comes to that chance last night in particular, a larger problem is that his body shape to take that shot on is dreadful.

He clearly made up his mind far before the ball reached him, that he'd be hitting it with his left. But then he doesn't approach the ball in a manner that makes a left footed strike viable, and he's leaning backwards as he makes the contact.

He manufactures the perfect demonstration of how not to strike a football. Very disappointing that he didn't leave it for Brewster to hit, who was in a far better position to take the shot, and until he backed out to leave it for Sam, seemed to be shaping himself well to make good contact with the ball.

…and should have left it for Brewster who was in a better position and can use either foot.

Noticed the lad got in great some positions with ball being cut back from right wing but always let’s it run across him so he can awkwardly strike with left foot…rather than use his right foot.
That’s why Hamer plays there so he can step into it.

The whole debate of get left footers on left is shown why teams don’t do it anymore. It’s not as attacking.

Wasn`t it 1-1 at the time of the miss? As such we can`t assume we would have had a 2 goal cushion had he scored...

He's a defender, why is anyone surprised he's not comfortable shooting on his weak foot? Most strikers are the same.

Should've left it for Brewster, let him spank it over.

And what about Hamer dragging shots wide and over.
