McCall issues "come and get me" message

Yes. There is a real consensus (not unanimity, of course), I feel, as to who the fans want. The club should realise this and, for once, go the extra yard to deliver what we want [we may be wrong, of course - very few of us are perfect :)].

.

Can't agree with this Pinchy. The board should get who they think is right and not who the fans want. The two may be the same but crucially may not be. There may be issues behind the scenes with some managers that means we cant get who we want or managers maybe waiting for intervies at other jobs(Wolves ? Donny? Blackburn ?) who will all pay more than us.

Don't forget none of us know who is on the shortlist so McCall and Robinson might not even be on it

In fairness, reading various fans forums there seems to be no clear agreement about who fans want so whoever we get, about 70% of fans won't be happy

Yes. I'm not at all convinced by McCall. For one thing, this 'new model' needs to be truly that - No ex-Blades thank you! There is a real consensus (not unanimity, of course), I feel, as to who the fans want. If that upsets Chris Morgan or anyone else - tough! That's football. If we've identified the man who we think best equipped for the job (and clearly we have) the thought of jeopardising the appointment for the sake of a few back room staff is too daft for words - so it's probably true!

Grow up United - get the man in.

Are you not concerned about Robinson's "Semi Pro" playing career?
I thought that was a sure sign of a crap manager in your black and white world :-;

God help us if McCall is the best we can do  just what did he do at Bradford ??? Oh yes he just managed to keep them in the football league and as for his exploits in Scotland with Motherwell I'm fairly sure Mickey Adams could manage to get them a game in Europe given the dire quality of the SPL

Unfortunately, mb, that's the pool (pond?) we're reduced to fishing in now. Oh, I'd love an approach for Poyet but he's about to leave a (currently) bigger team than us.

Said it before, get Rob Jones in from Donny - 2 years player/manager. He'll be mightily pissed off seeing that dinosaur Brian Flynn finally put out to grass only to see him replaced with...Paul Dichov.

Any manager will have had bad spells interspersed with some degree of success - it's the way most of these losers make a very good living out of football. Take Sean O'Driscoll. Excellent at Donnie, just beat Leeds 4-2 on Boxing Day while at Forest to put them in 8th - one point from 6th , sacked and replaced by Billy Davies who got them to finish...8th - one point from 6th. Bristol City had one foot in the Third when he arrived but nevertheless got some creditable results towards the end of the season.

So if McCall was crap at Bradford it shouldn't rule him out.

Whoever we select, his first meeting with McCabe will start with 'Of course, you realise that there is no transfer budget...'

No ITK style info but I've both seen and taken part in coaching sessions by McCalls assistant and he is very very good. He has close family in these parts, spends most of his time here and from what I am told as a pair they've had there eye on proceedings at BDTBL long before there was even a vacancy. They both played no small part in Murphys move south.
I know you live in Dronfield. I was surprised to learn yesterday that Kenny Black (McCall's assistant) lives in Dronfield but rents a place in Scotland. As Black has never got involved with any of the football clubs in this area i do not know why he lives in Dronfield but that will come in handy if McCall becomes our new boss

That's really naive, with respect, Kev.

He's on the short list.

I hope he is mate.

Out of the dross, i think the only managers who would fire the fans imagination. (and season tickets) ould either be KR or SMc

...and if McCalls still settled in Bradford /yorkshire then you can see why a move to SUFC might suit....

Out of Robinson and McCall, Stuart has to be a better bet. He has played the game at a higher level, managed and played for bigger clubs and is probably more succesful in terms of results. He got Motherwell to the Scottish Cup final, has just got them second in the league this season, last season 3rd behind Rangers and Celtic. OK its not the Bundesliga but he can only do what he can do, and it is unlikely they'll overtake Celtic.

Put it another way if Blades were in the Prem would you be happy if we came 5th two seasons running?

Personally I would have Coyle but I don't think he'll come (or even be interviewed) but McCall for me. I'd be disappointed with Robinson. He's hardly pulled up trees at MK. It won't be easy but McCall also knows the club, knows McCabe and that has to be an advantage.

We'd all be whining that if McC had spent another £35M we'd have been in the champions league and he's just a cheap skate.

Interesting how many would like McCall and how many wouldnt like Parkinson. Parkinson has far more experience, success and also has a local assistant. Just compare the relative achievements of both at Bradford. Surely Parkinson would be a far better target.

parkinson would be a decent choice, but weve more chance of getting graham norton

Yeah Sitters, but... he knows the Bradford players, they know him and err they are now in the same league.

If we were comparing City and United I mean Cardiff City and Man United I think he'd be interested. but BCFC and SUFC. Don't think the gap is now so great.

I keep misreading the title of this thread and thinking it says McCabe issues "come and get me" message.

Only if we get a free Parker pen!

I suspect he will have a good interview, mind.
