Just over 12 months ago I watched us concede 3 goals in 20 minutes to Southend. Some new cart horse signing called O' Connell scored an OG and got in a real mess with the keeper for a second - we ended the day bottom - or next to bottom. Here we go again I thought.
Today, 12 months on, we lie 5th in the Champ. JOC is now a folk hero. We have the nucleus of a team that knows each other inside out. We have signed another CB with potential and an experienced Champ striker who has caused havoc at The Lane in recent years.
Yes a lightning quick lethal striker would have been great - but we are building while sticking to our principles.
I am looking forward to Billy and Clayton up front with our Holy Triumvirate behind them and our tireless wing backs coming outside them.
As the old guys tire (!) then Caolan and Brooksy can arrive from the bench and bring youth, pace and quick feet to the party.
For me The Magic is Back and we still have a club that we can relate to.
