Another win, 82 points, McBurnie is our second top scorer.
Some ‘case’ you’ve rested
It's crazy to think the amount of slating he gets, be understandable if in single figures and played every game

I didn't hear these boos.. I was still awake, frozen, and bored.
But they must be really quiet, these wretched boo boys, as I heard boos for the ref only.

Centre of John Street immediately behind, left and right… not the loudest, but loud enough. Some sounded like South… well before the ones for the officials.

Particularly enjoyed the reaction to Lowe doing the right thing with a piece of textbook defending to get pelters too.

Listened for the boos, nothing from the Kop or SS other than a lot of mutterings.

Heard something from John Street, assumed it was an unpopular winner of the first half tiddlywinks tournament…..

Well down the list of “problems” tonight, a night where we’ve won again.

Ask his fellow pros if he’s any good/if they like him… rather than folk who decided very early into his Blades career.

I’m sure he’d love to return to the purple patches, but barring 1 today which he should have done a lot better with, however he plays, we don’t make him the chances.

Good result, dodgy performance, no need to dig folk out.

Hands up who booed em off at half time?
Totally agree and its tiresome
After every game it’s the same old digging players out
Usually Sander Flecky of course and often McBurnie with the witty repartee of Mc (insert your insult of choice)
The secret of our success has always been under a good manager who gets the team as a whole to perform much better than the sum of its parts - with a sprinkle of magic from our gifted players
Look at the togetherness on the post match videos - pity some fans just want to dig players out
and saying how shite we have played for ages as if we don’t somehow deserve to be where we are
Latest trend now is how we’re going to get embarrassed when we go up
We haven’t even got promoted yet and we could do with some positivity to help the lads get there
and of course we’re going to have a cricket score defeat at wembers thanks to Jimmy and Norwood who‘s time is also up apparently
We’re on the cusp of the PL and in an FA Cup semi - given all the off the pitch mullarkey and the injuries this season is an amazing position to be in - I for one am going to enjoy it…….

I backed him up on Saturday but he had a shocker last night,he wasn’t alone though was he . We were as poor as I’ve seen us for a while in the first half, wrong set up,nerves, energy levels ? No pigeons roaring us on from the pitch ? We are up there on merit but major surgery is required. Some of our supporters are laughable, saying a teenage kid should be got rid of cause he missed 1 easy chance, good god.

Another shocker to add to the list. Doesn't make the correct runs to be a threat. People moan he doesn't get the service but when we do cross the ball he's invariably nowhere near the goal. The one time he's picked out tonight he limply heads it wide.

It's starting to look like the first half of this season was just a purple patch, and he's reverted back to what we have seen for most of his United career. I've got not particular issue at the moment, simply because he is the only real centre forward option we have and it's probably going to get us promoted, but we desperately need to strengthen in that department or we're in trouble next season.

His game is better than ever and will stay that way now but the goals are a worry again

But something's not quite right with the team when neither McB or Ndiaye get anywhere near 20 in this league

His first touch is great, he's not got the experience or strength of Billy in terms of hold up play, but he won a few lost balls last night, first half in particular! The midfield was more of a concern for me than McBurnie.

Ideally, I'd like to see us try similar to last season once it's mathematically certain.

Izzy Doyle

Berge N'Diaye McAtee

He’s certainly not had the same goal threat since he’s come back from injury. But tbf as a team we haven’t carried the same goal threat since he originally got injured.
We also don’t play to his strengths, we pass the ball sideways at the edge of the box too much for him, he’d be better in the Burnley team with 2 direct wingers

Carrying an injury again?

I suspect he’s carrying another injury (from no knowledge whatsoever).

We don’t play to his strengths? Can someone explain what they are exactly?

Lumping it up in the air to him is no good. Firing it into his feet so he can control it and lay it off bringing others into the game is no good because for every 1 time he manages it 5 other times he needlessly gives the ball away, it doesn’t stick, bad control, bounces off him or he controls it and just passes to an opponent, last night he had a short easy pass and passed it straight out of play! So that’s also not to his strengths. Play it into space so he can use his pace and run onto it, forget that. Play it into him so he can turn and run at defenders, forget that. What’s left? Play balls early into the box? he’s never there and when he is it always seems he’s took by surprise when the ball comes to him so that’s not his strengths. He cannot kick a ball correctly, any shot at goal is a scuff.

So I’m left with shithousing, and just scrapping with defenders and moaning constantly and I mean constantly moaning at the referee. And being good at headers in our own box. That’s his strengths?

Btw this is an opinion that have of him after watching him for a few years and not just based on last nights game.

An inconvenient truth / truths for the apologists.

However, there is NO denying that his numbers, this season, have been impressive.

For someone that, and I totally agree with you on this, can not kick a football properly, that’s either mighty impressive or a wee bit on the flukey side !!!

couldnt agree more i just fail to see what some of our fans see in mcburnie only headers he wins is in our area cant control the ball when its played to his feet and is no goalscoring threat whatsoever hes a good shithouser to bring on for the last 20 when were holding on to a lead will be completely out of his depth in the premier league get shut !!

He didn't have a shocker at all last night. Should have done better with the scuffed shot and the header goes in 9 times out of 10.

Get off his back FFS, second top scorer in a team that has one foot in the Premier League and we still feel the need to dig players out.....and we call the S6 lot wierd...

Always been a fan and probably always will.

Last night he was better than Fleck but poorer than most, but the TEAM got 3 points so i'm chuffed.
I get it's disappointing when Sharp comes on and holds the ball up several times when McB lost it on those positions but some of his interplay and flick ons cannot be ignored and are really important.

Really-

What you a fan of?

Last night was pretty typical of late

Pathetic shot
Hopeless header
Slow
Can't get off the ground
Pointless fouls
Useless pressing

Positives - he managed to put his shirt on right way around?

Pommpey scored hinm a 2/10 and that was generous- I just do not see why you would dig him out- he was pathetic- when subbed - he knew he'd been shit AGAIN.

You can look at it the other way and applaud the fact that goals come from various sources, so we're not over reliant on one or two players. As someone brought up with the Deane/Agana combo I do agree that's it's odd not to have a 20 a season striker though.

How many seasons since Deane & Agana have we had a striker finish on more than 20 goals? Billy’s done it, but other than that I’d say its the norm, and increasingly so throughout football.

And my opinion is your opinion is completely unwarranted when we sit on the verge of promotion and McB has contributed to that just as much as anyone else.

its a forum isnt it all about opinions dont rate the guy and never will
How do you know ?
If he scores a hat trick v man citeh Saturday will you still say he is a LG 1 player ?
If the answer is no then it is yet another stupid post
If its yes then it is yet another stupid post

And he'll get a nice promotion bonus to reward his contribution
But we have to assess him for the PL or the battle to win the Championship in 2025
Of course a lot depends on finances but if we can afford it we should get a much better footballer than McBurnie
