There was one funny moment where he was by the right hand touchline, the ball came to his foot and he managed to flick it up and head it out, hilarious. Not knocking the lad I'm sure Heck'y will find a position that suits him and he will become a descent player for us - hopefully!

Before yesterday I was of the opinion that every appearance just lowered his value, I'm sure he has quality but his confidence is so low for us I just don't think he'll come good. But tbf to him he played decent when he came on, good assist and got in some good shooting positions if only he'd had the confidence to pull the trigger. One sub appearance isn't gonna change my mind but it was a small step in the right direction.

It was a lucky pass, he couldn’t control the ball, then it got stuck in between his feet, so he just passed it forward. Turned into a good pass, but no way did he know what he was doing. Not keen on him, but would never boo him
😂😂

He knew what he wanted to do and surprisingly did it !
Generally he is a much better footballer than many on here give him credit, but sadly not at present a decent striker !

I would never boo him, but he’s been pretty much a waste of money for the majority of his time here. I see no reason to extend his contract, and in all likelihood he will go back to Swansea on a free when his time here is up.

Agree, I hope that Hecky, Jack and Stuart Mc, are putting an arm round his shoulder, in training, and saying that no matter what the outcome, just shoot (unless there is an option to pass, of course, to a team mate in a better position).

That's the only way to get his confidence back, continually having a crack at goal, because the law of averages says that one will go in.

We got his transfer value from him in the first prem season, and since then he's been mismanaged. Can't just throw him on for 10 minutes once every 3 matches and expect him to change games, and then complain that he's not scoring. At most other clubs in this league he starts every match and has a chance to gather the same form and goals that he did at Swansea

Do you actually think McBurnie returned on £20m & £3m in wages in that first season?

Even by today's inflated market I think that's a stretch. He had a handful of good games and scored a handful of goals... is that actually all we should be expecting?

I think it's ludicrous to suggest he'd start at most other clubs in this division. I've watched the vast majority of opposition strikers look far more effective than he has. I'd take Gary Madine over him for one middling example..

He scored 22 goals in a championship season a few seasons ago. Like it or not that gets you consistent starts at most if not all clubs in the league

Apart from when he was joint top scorer in our best season in 30 years

He scored 6 goals.

It was our defence that got us to 9th, not the free scoring McBurnie.

you are right but he was joint top scorer however way you construe it

so to say he has done nothing isn't true

It would have done 2 years ago.

Absolutely terrible player but credit where credit is due I think he got an assist today which was more by luck than by judgement

Ironically, he only actually made that assist because he'd done his best to trip over the ball rather than control it in the first place.

Like it or not . He would not get in any Prem team or any decent Championship team now. He’s a dud - I wish he wasn’t but he most certainly is. I have no agenda but I can see him for what he is and that is an appalling footballer. If you want to watch that crap good luck to you but myself and 50000 others do not.

Why do you feel the need to throw in the "in our best season" bit. It's misleading and pretty irrelevant.

As above, the defence did the work. We were one of the lowest scoring teams in the division and what goals we did manage were distributed fairly evenly across the team. McBurnie wasn't particularly good, or threatening in that first year. He was disappointing and largely ineffective.

I can’t believe I’m replying to this because you’re a joke, and don’t waste your time having a go back and goad me because I will not read another single post of yours. Just as no one else should ever give you the time of day

but

Six…….Top scorer……..Six

And the other joint top scorer that season was Moose, you’re really setting the bar high there aren’t you?

You’re a cretin
And you smell of pork

You are a pathetic waste of oxygen oink oink 🐷

Booing him is disgraceful. Once he bags a couple h'll be golden. He's done it before in this division and some of his best performances last season were in games against Man united and Chelsea so we all know there's a player in there. McBurnie, like loads of other people, perform best when full of confidence. He needs backing not booing ffs. Any 'Blade' who thinks their been productive to Sheffield United or our number 9 by booing him are crazy people imo 🤪

There's two ways you could argue mcburnies commitment.

Some would say he repayed his fee first season in prem with goals and impression but has struggled for form and goals as a result of illness injuries etc or...

His off field antics and other factors in his life we may not be aware off may have made him think I'm not on football that much now.

Just my opinion

Booing him is disgraceful first and foremost. His goal return for games played albeit this season off the bench mostly is horrendous. We need to get some strikers in next season, with Mousset throwing his career in the bin, Jebbo still young and Brewster. We can’t go next season with just Billy (even though he’s been brilliant) regardless of what league we’re in.

Why so angry Trigger ?

When you watch Mcburnie highlights at when at Swansea and Barnsley most of his goals were balls pinballing around the box which he managed to get his noggin or boot on.

You won't see any 20 yard curlers the likes of Maupay, Brewster or MGW are capable of.

I honestly do think Mcburnie was going through a golden patch at Swansea and Barnsley.

Just my opinion tho.

Joint 3rd for MOTM performances according to our fans in our best season.
