Mcburnie

He had another fine game tonight, some fans will criticise him no matter what, for some reason
I think the reason is repeated failure to get headers on target or to strike the ball cleanly and/or with power.

But I know, Barnsley in 2018 and Swansea in 2019 and it's the way we play and he's not a target man and it's all the club's fault.

Wasn't completely successful but I saw an improvement last night. Got involved more and looked at times like he wanted to be there.

100% this. McBurnie was superb at both ends of the pitch tonight, the only thing missing was a goal. First name on the teamsheet v Swansea.
I don't understand this take at all.

The very same player missed a one v one in the first half. He was gifted the chance, had time and rather than stroking the ball in the corner, he hit it at a nice height directly at the keeper.

I don't see how this gives you any additional confidence that he would score N'Diaye's chance especially when you witness his striking of the ba from outside the box.

I don't get why McBurnie and McGoldrick can't strike a football cleanly and with power.

They skuff it more than not. No wonder he's missed both shoot out kicks he's taken for us.

I don't have an agenda and I'm not interested in his private life unless it is bringing bad press to United. But for 17m I'm just amazed he can't do such basics like shooting and simple ball control. When the ball is passed to him with any pace he looks about as comfortable as Prince Andrew at a BBC interview.

"After something that happened in the Premier League, I got an overdose of adrenaline and as a result I can't score goals" 🤣

Incredibly unfair and nothing like Ndaiye's 1v1....McBurnie won a ball he had no right to, made a chance out of nothing, got a shot on target and the keeper saved it with his face...

Bit OTT. It was a misjudgment by the centre half. Regarding the shot, it should have been on the floor then his face wouldn't have come into it. To read your summary you'd think he just made base metal from purest green...

Besides N'Diaye's chance required him to break at pace. He'd have still been on the half way line.

I wish he was better I really do. It's just hard to believe after 2 years of playing at a higher level this is the striker who scored 20+ for Swansea. I just don't see it.

None came from play when he starts with him facing his own goal. Many of those goals are the type of chances Billy Sharp thrives on. Despite Billy’s goals, we don’t , based on the play down the wings, provide that many chances for him.

Extraordinary- I wonder, has he got an identical twin? 🤫

Perhaps they’re running out of (other) scapegoats ?
Robinson looking adequate +
(L 1) Wes not fucking up (what little he has to do)
Burke fucked off (& fucking up) elsewhere
Montgomery is in Oz

Norwood best be careful mind - he can’t afford another 20 minute spell like 2nd half yesterday else the South Stand lynch mob will swift return from the(ir) shadowy haunts

Ndiaye must be bricking it in case he miss another 1:1 in the rest of his career

Or maybe Fallowfield‘s tosh will (finally) gain some traction?

Lol...agenda in its purest form. If anyone else had made that chance McBurnie haters would be spaffing like they were watching Porn Hub..

He did more than normal, and made more of an effort. Defended well a few times. I've not seen highlights of his chances at their end, so can't comment on them.
But, he still falls down at the drop of a hat, and his chances still don't get buried. You'd back Billy to score every time over McB. Still way off the mark. We are lumbered with him, til he comes good or we take a massive loss in him.

I just get the overall impression with McBurnie that he doesn’t want to be here. When I watched him play for Swansea he looked a very good player. Sometimes it just doesn’t click at a club and I think it’s like this with him. I think it would be better all round if we parted company this summer.
We could give him to Matlock Town or someone like that.

Not sure they’d want him though…

It's quite amazing that we aren't allowed to criticize a player that virtually ever neutral fan thinks is rubbish.

The continual mis timing of a football whether under pressure or not is quite staggering for a so called professional footballer.

Yes, he put himself about a bit last night.

We are a much worse team with him in the side - coupled with N'diaye and MGW last night we wouldn't have broken Hull down if we played until Xmas. I line of 4 with 5 in front just sat in and looking for a break. They've analysed us well.

Some of us are calling for Jebbison to be given an opportunity. It might not work but it might just work. What doesn't work in McB every time he plays. Hecky says Jebbo is not up to speed of the Championship or how we play in training. That comment can only be accepted if McB is also up to speed, which he never has been, even when fit. The goals Jebbo scored for Burton shows he has numerous ways of scoring - it shows he can run/compete/strike a ball with power. For sure Jebbo might not be the answer, McB definitely isn't the answer.

I fortunately work with people all over the country and football is the common language - everyone think he's rubbish - and yes, I get why some on here support the player, still doesn't alter what other, genuine football fans think of him as a player.

Wasn’t he leading the counter after heading the ball clear? 😂

McBurnie is paid to score and he is hopeless in front of goal. Sick of watching his lame shots and poorly directed headers.
That game should have been perfect for him last night. He was the reason we didn't win.
FFS give Jebbo a chance or send him back to Burton to score goals there if we aren't bothered about winning games.

Another unfair comment he was up with Ndiaye on that break the ball was played to the right when he was on the left.

He reminds me of the bloke in the 'if carlsberg did football agents video:

The interviewer on the Heckingbottom interview nailed it, he called it a "toiling" performance. That's what McBurnie does, he toils. Nothing seems to come naturally to him so he's always trying a bit too hard to make things come off. He might go on and make a player somewhere else but I really hope we bite the bullet and move him on, I I'm not fond on watching 0-0 games every week.

I thought he added a lot defensively last night. I was worried when Billy was putting his shirt on that it would be McBurnie coming off, and glad when it wasn't. But I guess that's maybe just 'cos it was still 0-0 and I was worried about a Hull smash & grab. If we were 2-0 up I probably would have been happy to see him off for Billy or Jebbo, but at 0-0 didn't feel it was worth the risk. He's given me confidence again in his all-round offering and commitment.
