If he can get back to the lad he was 2 seasons ago (I know it was championship but he looked much better) he will be first choice striker for Scotland. If Burke continues to rip up defences and we start seeing some results (get round the back and knock it in for somebody to slot home from inside the box) no reason they can't duet for us and Scotland.

He's one of those forwards who has the scoring knack but not the knack of being in the right place at the right time. You could say that the issue isn't his performance against his xG but the xG itself.

I think it has something to do with the fact we expect him to make something from hopeful hoofs up the pitch whenever he plays. "He's a target man" say so many blades. Total bollocks, he's not a target man, never will be and never has been. Give him actual service and he'll score. We're not fucking Stoke.

Bit unfair that we sign a championship striker and expect him to create most of his own opportunities against tougher opposition but I suppose our whole system is based on the players giving that extra 10% above their ability.

Wish we played the way we did when moose was in the squad october to december time, regardless of who is up front. I know we utilised his pace a lot but our goals vs burnley, spurs, wolves etc weren’t reliant on him breaking away. Quick one-twos, McGoldrick dragging players out, full backs breaking away down the wings and quicker crosses into the box. Play like that with Mcburnie in the box and we’d score hatfuls

That’s the reason I think the full backs need a kick up the arse at the minute more than the midfielders and strikers

So he only had 6 chances last season? Watch him, he's never ever set in the box, he's still and easy to mark and is way too casual. For me he's more intersted in going on the lash with Swansea fans than playing his heart out for the Blades.

We've started doing the same for him here he looks great when you play the ball up to him into feet

They won on penalties so whilst agreeing the set up could be viewed as negative it could also be seen as a way of achieving a successful outcome. Steve Clarke comes across as a slightly dour, miserable individual granted, but imo his achievement in getting Kilmarnock to a 3rd place finish should be viewed as a success.

Clarke has a decent rep as a coach/assistant. Didn't last long as manager at West Brom or Reading. It's a bit of a weird one as there is obviously a lot of pressure on him to play Scotland based players and he leaves out far superior players like Fleck, Cairney, Ritchie etc

There's a skill in being on the end of those chances though. There's a reason they don't drop to McBurnie.

He needs to get in the box when we have the ball and are attacking. He plays too much of a role in the build-up and is missing too often when the final ball goes in. Even if he doesn't get on the end of it, his presence will disrupt defences and pull defenders out of position, giving others chances.
Overall, we simply don't play enough in the opposition penalty areas.
