So McBurnie "helps" get Las Palmas relegated somehow in some peoples strange minds means he will get us into the Premier League. People on here have been visiting the fairies.

United need another link option that's for sure. If people didn't think that before, the second half at Wembley should've extinguished that sentiment beyond all doubt.I doubt we're in the market for a big fee so this represents an opportunity to box that one off with minimal outlay. If there's s better option out there that allows us to do that it won't be happening.

I worry about contracts. Moore got a year too long. Despite Oli being significantly younger I'd want the club to be in a position to jettison him pretty easily if/when promoted. Not a 3+ year deal.

Mcburnie's best position is central in a three which is exactly our system before the last few games. That's when he looked a player at Swansea/Barnsley. Last summer we were linked with a lot of pacy front three wide options. Maybe that's the plan.

How can we be so pathetically parochial as this? All the forwards in the world to look at and we go back in for someone as bad as McBurnie- it's would be laughable if it wasn't so depressing.
Exactly this!

Plus, we have no RBs and 1.5 CBs and our first signing is an oft injured, can't play more than 60mins, 5th choice striker ...

Peak Sheff Utd!

Surprised at the reactions

Was just going to post the same

I like McBurnie but I’ll be disappointed if he returns..

Maybe I’m alone with this but after the disappointment of missing out on promotion I took some comfort in the idea that the new owners would bring new ideas and a new means of recruitment then 2 weeks later we are bringing McBurnie

We seem to not be moving forward then, if this turns out to be true.

Someone needs to tell COH that they need to learn, far more quickly than the Prince did, that it's actually very good to say 'no' to Wilder. He isn't the messiah ......

This thinking will hold us back. Rinse and repeat.

My main concern is that McBurnie's availability record, and we were often without him when we really needed him.

Also, for me, the absolute priority is like-for-like competition for Campbell who has become so integral to how we play...I wouldn't want signing McBurnie to negate bringing much needed options in.

McBurnie is better than Moore no question..

..however..

He’s injury prone.

He doesn't score enough

It means we are doubling down on last season’s style of play and taking a ‘one more heave’ approach.

Why aren't we looking at quick powerful strikers that make the opposition defenders defend ten yards deeper as they worry about pace getting around the back?

Don’t like this attention for McBambie. Looks like CW is still calling shots over new owners if true

I'm surprised how unpopular this move is.
my only issue is that yes he was incredible at the start of the 2019 & 2022 seasons but his best attribute for majority of his spell was his defensive skills defending corners. & we are buying a striker to score goals not prevent them
