McAtee

Made a mess of his first chance in the second half, maybe too early in the game for him? To be fair, I think he did well after that and was a threat down the right.

Looks like he’s starting to come of age compared to his first couple of games

Wonder if Man City will want to keep both players, or whether there might be an opportunity to pick one up?

Surely they are both enjoying themselves at the Lane? We might have a chance if Pep thinks they won’t make the first team or just surplus?

The situation is Doyle will probably become available as City fans don’t think he’ll get anywhere near their squad.

However McAtee wont be available. Pep rates him very highly and the talk around the Etihad is that McAtee has the ability to break into the 1st team.

God I hate the pigs. I really fucking hate them. I grew up in the 90s all my school friends are pig fans, who never go to games, prattle on about winning titles in the century before last, and generally don't get what football is really.

Carry on with the debate

Good because right now Doyle has been far better.

Not looked back since his triple Lutz with pike attempt away at Bristol City!

Continues to flourish doesn't he?
Seems to be getting delivering with more confidence every week.

I love the way he glides across the pitch with the ball stuck to his feet.
He knows he has the beating of anyone one-on-one if he stands them up and accelerates and he's getting very close to adding goals and assists too. Just need those around him to get in the right areas for his cut-backs now.

Watching Berge, Ndiaye and McAtee link up tonight in that first half an hour way a real joy to watch and some of the best football I've seen from us this season (certainly since August).

I can't find a good reason to leave him out of the side. For now, he's made the shirt his. Hopefully he can keep kicking on from here. He oozes talent.

We can't have McAtee, Berge & Norwood on the pitch at the same time. We get walked through.

I've just seen a graph that shows that we have about 9 of the bottom 12 left to play at home.
I think the above formula might be out best route to opening them up.

Agree, against better sides and away from home it might expose us somewhat.

The problem is, what is the answer? Because I've seen us get walked through with Norwood and Doyle at the base on plenty of occasions. Fleck is out for a while and Osborn is best as a filler in'er.
Unless we're signing a DCM to come in and start (which to me, is what we should do) then we should probably should just let teams worry about us.

Ismaila Coulibaly is back in Jan. Not saying he’s the answer, but a highly rated 21 year old DM would be what the fans want us to sign and we already have him on the books.

I think it's too big of an ask for him to be that guy. He's been out for ages and PH didn't sound too impressed with what he saw of him in pre-season, talking of loaning him out.

McAtee is definitely growing with each game but I feel that we won't see the best of him this season. Another season with us, or on loan elsewhere, I think you'd see what he's really capable of.
Another season in the Championship, yes. But if we are promoted to the Premiership then he’ll be too lightweight. Great prospect though !

Funny how people see things differently. ucandomagic mentioned in his graph thread that he was back to being out of his depth in the adult game.

be crap if we were all the same

Kin ell. We must be lucky to watch McAtee then at this stage of his career. Doyle would be very very welcome at the Lane

I think he'd get more protection in the premier League than in the EFL to be honest

McBurnie and Ndiaye up front with Mcatee Sander and Norwood in the midfield three with Lowe left wing back and Bogle right wing back could be some attacking formation against teams who come to park the bus at the Lane

It would indeed and that's what forums are there for. Debate. Always enjoy people that play the post, rather than the poster.

The thing that shocked me most about the PL was how much more physical it was.
There's a bit of a stereotypical viewpoint that the lower you go down the pyramid the less technical and more physical it gets.
But that's not what I saw. Midfielders in the PL are like middleweight boxers, don't look much, but really tough.

Doyle for me is a better all round player he settled the ship last night and was very unlucky not to get a goal

I think the answer is that we adapt our game as the changes are required.

We have to keep getting Norwood on the ball. Heard last night that we've scored 9 from corners, which is a massive improvement and something we're clearly working on. We were not only wasting our attacking corners, previously, but we were conceding on the counter from them, so this is a big turn around.

Same with that centre mid. Between Sander, Doyle, Fleck we have three very good players to sit in alongside Norwood and help him to be able to play the balls to make us tick. We will play sides that want to overrun us and thats where we have to be smart - tuck the wingbacks inside, drop the 10 deeper, switch to a back 4... or just work the ball better ourselves from other positions. Its game management rather than worrying about the opposition

Its physical and needs bigger players. Thats why Lundstrum looked better in that division

We're definitely better prepared on the physicality, previously we were athletic, but not as physical in terms of strength

McAtee is here to get battle hardened. He has bags of ability, but he needs the experience of 6-foot+ juggernauts trying kick him into touch. Once he’s comfortable with the physicality of first team football, his technique and ability should carry him far.
