Exactly mate. Word was that QPR were holding out for 7m for Freeman, yet we got him for under 4m, incredible piece of business.

Given our purported shoestring budget, if Brentford are holding out for 20 mil, then sadly we’ll have to pass, but if the Freeman deal is anything to go by, our brass could get the deal done for 15m, especially if Maupay is keen on us. ‘Sides he’s already used to wearing red and white stripes!

I suspect it’s the FFL thing people have seen - it’s an official looking picture quoting Freeman’s price as 5.5. It got me too and I thought it meant we signed him for 5.5...but that’s just his Fantasy football price.

Yeah, the same as Jagielkas price being announced at 4.5 the day after he signed. FPL prices ≠ real world prices

We’ve only spent around £5m so far and we could probably go to £50m with the TV money. Players like Maupay and McBurnie are investments. It’s possible we could lose out on them if they’re not good enough but we won’t lose huge amounts and we have no option but to take some risks. I’m not saying we’ll definitely do it but there’s a sound football/business argument for doing so. Whichever of our owners win, they don’t want to inherit a championship club when they could have had a PL club.

We look to be weighting the spend very heavily in favour of attackers and recruiting cheaper in other areas to enable it.
