What a brilliant game he had on Tuesday Night. He looked comfortable defending, and composed when going forward - the modern day Wing Back. Showed in the first half when he had a decent effort at goal with his left foot, that he does indeed have a left as well as a right foot. Let's hope we don't sell him in the summer

I remember him being a stand out player at Milwall in November (not quite on the same scale as Any Reid mind). He was strong, passionate and hard working. He played on the right (think it was right mid, rather than right back - but can't quite remember). He was great. A real man of steel performance.

Speed dropped him for the next game and he didn't get back in the team until Adams took over. Then it was at left back where he has struggled a bit. Quality players like that Reading winger (Keko?) and Coterill have given him a hard time, but it is on his weakened side. He needs to be played at RB. His defending can be a little suspect (not getting tight to his man, being outmuscled) but his passion, commitment and ability is there. Plus he is young. He will be a cracking player in years to come.

As I say he shoudl be a regular fixture in the back 4 (along with Collins, Lowry and Mattock). I'd like to see him settled there and working as part of a settled back 4.

We were doing all so well with the speculation of few words and the this long drawn out truth:eek:

Id say that was the best back four too... however mccabe wont want to piss nosworthy's wage up against the wall so it wont happen. its a shame because we should be nurturing him in his best position, RB.

I've watched the interviews with him on BladesPlayer in the last few weeks, seems a genuine lad as well.

RS comms said the other night that he was the one at the end urging Collins forward and pushing to get the winner.

More of the same please Pembo!

Lowton was excellent on Tue night - but to be honest, I think he's been very poor recently - although he has been played out of position at times. Hopefully he will now continue this better form.

I saw that - it made me smile. Junior player telling senior pro to haul his arse up field. He was quite right too.

Jimmy Kebe certainly gave him, and us, a real scare up until he faded in the second half (I assume that's the Reading winger you mean, Olle). Still, Lowton looks a real prospect. I've already seen him score in front of the Kop three times, too!

Jordan played left back against Reading in the first half. Lowton replaced him at half time and did a much better job of keeping Kebe quiet.

Ah right fair enough then, I'd forgotten the half time change. Yeah he didn't look owt like, in the second half.

He put two great short passes when in the box (that we very rarely see at the Lane) to Voakes one for his goal and one in the first half if Voakes had returned the pass instead of shooting Lowton would have scored from.

still think that Lowton might be a better right sided mid player. He can cross, he can see a pass, and not scared to have a go. Right Back will do, Right Midfield even better

One thing that's constantly impressed me about Lowton is that he always looks for the 5 or 10 yard pass when the time allows. He's composed on the ball which is a bit of a novelty for us.

However, if Adams is going to continue playing him at left back he needs to really work on his left foot.

Agreed. That's the academy upbringing he's had. Most of our kids emerge with the same habits, but lose them in the Championship scuffle fest.

It will be fascinating to see how we play next year if 1/3 of the side are academy lads.

My only concern with him as a defender is that he is prone to ball-watching and it's been exploited on occasion. Right midfield would provide protection to Nos and allow him to get forward more but that relies upon us getting a fit / competent left back first.

I first saw Lowton play for the reserves at the Lane earlier in the season when Blackwell was in charge and he played centre half. Never put a foot wrong and his passing was very good. He's a good type of player to have being so versitile.

He's quite a tall lad (though he is slight) so perhaps he could be a centre half of the future.

I actually think that his defending has let him down a little, though his passion, skills and comfort on the ball more than make up for it. He seems caught between two positions (RB and RM) at the moment. I'd like to see him given a run at RB to see how he fares. I don't think he is the type of RM that Adams wants (i.e. a winger) so he should be played at RB.
