What an impressive man. If you want evidence of United's transformation into a progressive and professional club, listen to his interview from the ISS. The fitness of our players and the lack of injuries last season were no coincidence. We now have a terrific off the field set-up and Matt is clearly pivotal in this.

Link?

Would love to listen to it but have no idea what "ISS" is and where to find the link? Is this an initiative test or something?

First fitness coach I've had confidence in since Tony Daley. Hope he's here for a long time.
I heard Toly Daley was a right lazy tosser. Do you know different?

Hang on. Wasn't that lack of injuries down to the Desso?

Make your fucking minds up eh?

Totally agree but who is the sports psychologist who we got too. Was around a lot for the last month or so of the season. Can't find his name but he was very close to the players and wilder

No, but our team always seemed to be fit while he was here.

Then he was a victim of Bryan Robson's 'cleansing' wasn't he.... He went to Wolves after and they seemed to do well while he was there too.

Steven Sylvester, ex Stickball player and also psychologist at Middlesex CCC.

As for Matt Prestridge, there's a reason why he was Wilder's first "signing" if you like.

Better pitches such as a DESSO certainly helps. Fewer home games called off, more consistent playing surface, better drainage and watering. The playing surface is controlled.

But yes, the Prestridge set up was excellent last season. Fitter players, few niggling injuries. Recovery from injury is much better in fitter players.

Really like to hear interviews like this. Gives a little insight into the regime that we have in preseason

Yes top man. I think Matt is a "sports scientist". Was speaking to Northampton fan last season and he was saying how good he was at Northampton and that they had hardly any injuries certainly in their promotion season. He is critical part of Wilders "team". Obviously worked his magic with our squad last season. We had very few injuries and virtually none to key players like Billy, Coutts, Fleck etc. Interestingly the players who did get injuries were those who had not done a full pre-season with us like Lavery, Carruthers, EEL, ang Hanson. Was this just coincidence? Anyway great guy and will be interesting to see if those players have a better injury record this season after a full pre season with Matt.

If I was being cynical, I'd say that he was the last United fitness coach that people had heard of.
Tony Daley was a good fitness coach, going only from what i saw on the pitch we were a very fit side, but we were under Dean Riddle as well.

I think the managers since Warnock and Blackwell have not given the same priority to fitness. Wilder has taken it to a new level. Never seen a United side as fit as this one and Prestridge really deserves so much credit for last seasons success.

Very good to hear that the players are ahead of where we wanted them. That will be a huge benefit to the preseason training, if we can hit the ground running (no pun intended) with the fitness, then we can spend more time bedding the new players into the football side and work on hoofing that ball 70 yards

Apparently Daley left Wolves last month after ten years there. I remember reading an article about him at Wolves and he seemed to be highly rated at the time.

So now we have Matt, our fitness guru, why are we pissing about with Leonard and Holmes, let's just get James Wallace back ;)

We've sold the desso to pay for Stearman. Do keep up love.

I've heard Stearman was paid for by the sale of the new noticeboard. It's been sold because it caused too many injuries and didn't allow us to play fast, attacking football against Fleetwood.
