ok he scored two goals at Wigan, but can anyone tell me what he brought to the team today?
He runs around a lot, well so could I.
He has no idea how to link play, never shows for the ball, never drags players away to enable others to move into the created space.
In short he has no idea how to play as a forward in a "team".
If we get a decent offer I would let him go, but then again I would let any of them go.

And today was actually one of his better performances!

He took a ball down on the left with his thigh, quite neatly, it even fell into his path to advance, very cute

He stopped the ball and passed it back

pffft

I like Matt Done and was pleased when we signed him, but at the moment it is hard to argue with what you have said:(

so glad someone see's what i see .

From what I can see they just lump the ball down the channels for him to chase and that said they usually knock it too long for even Mattys pace, how can he thrive on them, he is a poacher. Play to his strengths and he delivers, don't and he is lost. Say no more.

I agree. Totally overrated player. Didn't even do his headless chicken running about today. I'd cash him in if we can.

I am sorry to say this, but you are not looking at the full picture here, in your statement you quite correctly said Done seems to run a round a lot, have you ever thought why? Billy sharp is the same the pair of them have to run around because they get no support from the midfield at any time, no through balls, we play with no wingers so no crosses, what do you want them to do?. Both the forwards are what I would call football scavengers, foragers always looking for mistakes by the opposition defender, that’s why they are always running around sniffing like bloodhounds for just one chance. I would rather see them doing this, looking for the opportunities than doing nothing. So please do not blame any forwards at the lane, blame the very bad service they receive.

He's not that quick with the ball at his feet either and doesn't seem to be a great dribbler.

He'll probably poach between 5 and 10 goals a season in and around the 6 yard box, but we don't get enough ball in there for him to be effective in this set up.

He was looking good as a poacher. I didn't see a single cross go near him today. I saw plenty of hopeful punts down the line that he was never going to get near though.

Brayford put 3 decent balls into front post area today 2nd half Done was nowhere to be seen ..he does'nt anticipate anything no running across defence then he also gets caught offside all the time don't rate him at all .

I probably didn't word it right. He rarely gets on the end of crosses I agree. He's good for a few tap ins a season when the ball is pinging around or it bounces off the keeper.

yea was saying today to a mate at the game he's best on the bench to come on late in the game thats about it.

Done and Sharp were feeding off scraps cos the midfield's idea of supporting them was to lob the ball over the Swindon defence and hope they picked it up. It was like throwing a stick for a dog.

It is a massive shock to me that Done and Sharp do not have a better understanding than they do. On paper, at least in my mind, it should work a treat.

But it's also true that both are feeding on scraps for the most part.

What's the answer ?

I was annoyed with Done's lack of professionalism late in the game. Baxter saw him with a lot of space at the left but his long pass was a bit off target but still Done had plenty of time and space to get the ball on the left and carry it nearer to the goal. Done seemed to slow down as if he was trying to get the ball just before it went out of play ( maybe trying to force his opponent wider?), he misjudged the direction of the ball so badly and the linesman flagged for a throw in. Grrr!

So Matty Done's the latest player to be held accountable of being all that's wrong with Sheffield United.

Done isn't the problem, its the way we play him, and that comes down to management.

I suggest we start by passing it to his feet rather than asking him to run 60 yards each time.

However, not convinced this will happen, given that our current game plan with regards to substitutions appears to be based on a 'lucky dip' policy, with balls being drawn from a bag, although someone's clearly forgotten to put 'Woolford' in there.

Like McEverley before him, the torch and pitchfork brigade are out in force,...... strange in itself because almost every goal we concede comes down the other wing,

We've lost three games since the shambles at Crewe, .......Shrewsbury, Peterborough and Manchester United.

Again, strange....... they were the three games Done didn't start.

Agree in terms of forward craft (making runs, pulling defenders away etc) but their getting no chances. He's a predator in the box. when does he ever get a decent ball?

The only time Done and Sharp were within 10 yards of each other in the whole game, was when they were both in the changing room at half time.

I've always liked Done but if you look at his scoring record throughout his career it's absolutely atrocious.

Thought Done started really well, then struggled for the last hour.
When we need someone to hold it up, and trouble the opposition defence,in a situation like Sat, Done isn`t up to it.

How many chances did our midfield create for the strikers today? How many killer balls did we put in the right areas?

I'd say we created the penalty and the header for Sharp, and that's it.

And then we expected the front two to run themselves in to the ground chasing aimlessly.
