My mate turned round to me and said "It makes you wonder what we do fitness wise because Done is still full of beans and the rest are blowing out of their ar*es"

He impressed, his work rate was second to none and although maybe not the finished article when it comes to natural striker never the less he looks a poacher and a finisher. Long may it last!.

I've wondered if all the changes has stopped some players getting match fit or perhaps they are match fit but unable to take it to a level that the opposition can if the opposition have played a few consecutive games instead of being in and out all the time?

His movement gave room to other players ,kept the defenders on their toes and options for the midfield. We were so less predictable and this was the catalyst for last nights win.

Yet Cloughy said he took him off because he was blowing !. Didn't appear to be to me, still looked full of running, still game was pretty much over by then. Maybe McNuts can lean a few things of Matty.

Higdon looked good and scored on his debut.

Just sayin'.

I can see Higdon up front with Done alongside. Not exactly the Dream Team but plenty good enough for the run-in. Between them they would give opposition defenders plenty to worry about. Higdon simply is not a lone striker but with Done doing all the buzzing around we could play to the big lad's strengths - and there are some believe me!

If we get anybody better for main striker all well and good. McNulty, Adams, Diego and Baxter are cover for Done as secondary striker.

Things to work on?:

movement in the box - was always at the back post, can he develop near post runs?
sometimes the running was ridiculously energetic but purposeless or even counterproductive, eg chasing down the keeper and then being way out of position if we won the ball for a counterattack

Still, at first sight a valuable addition to the team and, till Saturday at least, I'm much more optimistic about our play off chances, both getting there in the first place and having a chance if we do.

My 2 pennorth - in no particular order.
  1. Clearly very quick, mobile, and willing
  2. Chasing down the keeper - didn't seem to be much point to that.
  3. Seemed to aggravate their centre half. Not a bad thing if he can wind up the opposition.
  4. Hung around at the back post when in the box - needs to run across the front post?
  5. Incredibly confident finish for the goal - like the defender and keeper weren't even there - just passed it into the back of the net.
  6. The finish for the disallowed goal was good as well. (Looked like "HANDBALL!" - may find out different when I see it later.)
  7. Doesn't always make the runs of a natural striker, understandably - but this should be worked on if that's his position.
A significant addition to the team. Looks like one of a core of players who bring real strength to the team. For me the others are: Brayford, Coutts, and Murphy.

Great work-rate, pacey and isn't afraid to shoot. If we can sign a big strong pacey striker to play with him, we may start to be a problem for other sides, provided we avoid the miniaturisation of our midfield.
Havent yet given up hope for getting into the play-offs, however, we will still struggle to compete with MKD ? Preston / Swindon over 2 games.

One of our problems (for a while) is that we have no one on the back post. On plenty of occasions, JCR crosses balls in low, along the goal line, and they usually pop out the other side, when they just need someone at the back post to to toe it in.

I liked what I saw of Done, I guess we all need to see him in three or four matches to really tell. Promising start though.
