My 2 pennorth - in no particular order.
  1. Clearly very quick, mobile, and willing
  2. Chasing down the keeper - didn't seem to be much point to that.
  3. Seemed to aggravate their centre half. Not a bad thing if he can wind up the opposition.
  4. Hung around at the back post when in the box - needs to run across the front post?
  5. Incredibly confident finish for the goal - like the defender and keeper weren't even there - just passed it into the back of the net.
  6. The finish for the disallowed goal was good as well. (Looked like "HANDBALL!" - may find out different when I see it later.)
  7. Doesn't always make the runs of a natural striker, understandably - but this should be worked on if that's his position.
A significant addition to the team. Looks like one of a core of players who bring real strength to the team. For me the others are: Brayford, Coutts, and Murphy.

Great work rate, intelligent movement, looks like a cool finisher - just what we need.

Needs to iron out his offsides but he's probably still trying to work out how the rest of the side feed him.

Worked his balls off, makes the runs, lots of pace and tidy finishing. Would be a right pain to defend against. You can tell he's not a career striker so he appears a bit unorthodox but very happy we've signed him, it breathes some life into our attack.

He seems to offer more presence just by the ground he covers. But instead of laying it off and there's no one in the box, he has a strong intent to get into dangerous areas and isn't afraid to have a go.

Good signing I reckon.

I think that him being familiar with being out on the wing is great for us, he can work the channels well. He also knows how to work defenders even better given that he used to play as a defensive player and knows the mindframe. promising, not looking to jinx after 1 game.

His second goal was hand ball but not deliberate more unfortunate, the ball bounced up and hit his hand firtst....

It was also nice to see someone challenging for every header! Even though he didn't win the majority of them he at least had a jump and put the defenders under pressure rather than the usual easy headers away they get when McNulty or Higdon stand rooted to the ground.

Well my first impression was that they don't teach the offside rule at Rochdale! I think he was caught four times in the first half, plus another instance where he let it go because it would have been called. That said, it's probably because he and the rest of the team aren't in a rhythm yet, once they learn his runs etc I expect this will get a lot better.

The rest of it was very positive. He never stopped running - whether this is part of his game or because he was pumped up for his debut I'm not sure. He looked a real threat with the ball at his feet and took his goal (and the one he had chalked off) very well.

I still think we need another sort of forward, someone taller with more presence, but Done looked pretty useful last night.

Very impressed with Matt Done last night. Worked really hard chasing opposition and putting them under pressure in their half. I think he's got potential to bang a few more in this half of the season. Will be our top scorer in a month or so if he carries on like that.

Porter was a past master at the pointless, clumsy offside. Was Done offside more than Porter? Amazing. That's offside. That's born offside.

My mate turned round to me and said "It makes you wonder what we do fitness wise because Done is still full of beans and the rest are blowing out of their ar*es"

He impressed, his work rate was second to none and although maybe not the finished article when it comes to natural striker never the less he looks a poacher and a finisher. Long may it last!.

He was making the runs with anticipation of a through ball which was then slowed down, often by Baxter, causing him to be offside. Once they click, especially when Reed is playing as that boy can deliver a quality pass I think he'll score plenty.

Very impressed, ridiculous work rate, never stopped sprinting!
I want a bit of what he's taking before I go for a run! Seriously though he must be one of the fittest players I have seen at Bramall Lane, he chased literally everything down. Continue that way Done and you will soon be a fans favorite.

He didn't touch the ball until the 32nd minute randomly. His pressing and chasing down was great. Good work rate.

His goal looked like a player with confidence. Something many if our players lack at present. Think he could score shed loads alongside somebody in a 4-4-2

Well said. After half an hour Done hadn't touched the ball, much like any other striker we have picked for months, apart from Higdon who gets involved a lot without touching the ball!!:)

Big issue still there. We just do not start with intensity or confidence and do not push enough men forward when we gain possession, nor do we move the ball quickly enough in the first half of games. Not enough men moving forward to demand the ball.

Last night it worked out OK because the opposition were so poor, but Done was wired up differently right from the start. His workrate and intensity was like chalk and cheese to our regulars. The fact he didn't touch the ball for so long just shows how poor our service is to the lone striker.

In the second half we improved and the play from Brayford and Coutts out on the right was a joy to behold. Baxter joined in on the same wavelength with some comfort. Proper players can play with each other. I look forward to seeing Reed adding to the trio and even Scougall will benefit when Coutts and Brayford lead the way with controlled, progressive forward looking possession play. Proper players playing possession football but moving forwards. There were enough glimpses last night to whet the appetite. Coutts can be a big influence and a leader I'm sure. He has composure and time on the ball and invariably does the simple thing effectively. Once he joined Brayford on the right I realised he can do it progressively rather than just tidily if there is a player making the run.

I didn't go last night but even from 90 or so miles away, I had turn turn the central heating up a notch as I could feel the breeze from his constant running around. A top, top ginger bearded skopadiddle signing.

Whether or not the opposition is good or poor , in the past , it has had no bearing ,whether we get 3 points or not . After Saturdays performance , the blades really didn't have to do much to better it , last night .

Done looks good , and if we can get a settled side , consistency , the performances can only get better.

It was doom and despondency after Saturday , so i am not getting carried away with a 4-1 win. It does seem the players are finally getting to know each other.

The intensity and confidence from the kick off , will come . At least Done will get the rest of the team to grow some balls imo.

From where I was sitting, a decent game and bodes well for the future. Needs a shave though.

Done looks a good player to me . The only thing is , if we had all been in a coma , and just woke up , we would perhaps think we are only 5 or 6 games into the season , and the players were still jelling together , not half way through. Suppose its what you get with chopping and changing.

watching him last night gave me relief if anything that we have someone who will change the game for us

This is the thing though mate, I think we have a good few game changers in that squad, In fact we have seen it in spells when Murphy, JCR, Flynn and Baxter have had a blinder and turned a game on it's head. This is one of the main puzzles for me because I don't think it is a lack of quality that has been our downfall so far this season I think it is something else that I am still trying to put my finger on. I do think though that we have a team of attacking minded players who are used to playing free and open attacking football and the style of play that the manager has been asking them to play has impacted certain players.

If Done coming in encourages the manager to play in a more attacking manner then it's a win / win.

they are game changers but not in a position to do it every game Done will be that's the difference for me

Done's goal was quality. He stroked it into the far corner as if passing to a team-mate. Nothing hectic or hurried, just a player aware of the possibilities around him who was able to exploit the chance to our advantage.

Exactly mate, that poses the question though doesn't it? Why haven't these players been played in a way that utilizes their key strengths? They have either been played out of position of been asked to play in a certain way that has taken them out of their comfort zones and deems them ineffective!

Dare I say it but I think that if played in the right manner with a decent talisman up front that this team could see off a good few championship clubs.

Let's not worry about championship clubs just yet...

We need to find a way of playing that suits our players and that beats teams in League 1.

We're not quite there yet but we're making progress. I hope we're not far away.
