The Star saus we're chasing Reading centre half Mills.

Don't know much about him. He's hardly had an illustrious career, but he played for England under 19's. he played for Donny last year and signed for Reading suring the close season. Has since struggled to get in the first team. Apperently Reading played around £2 for him. He's played less than 10 games since then.

Did well for Donny, worth a go I think.

Looked slow and cumbersome in their FA Cup match with Liverpool. Got caught out on quite a few occasions and spread the ball anywhere but to a team mate.

Ideal for us then!

I can't say he stuck out against us last season (although we weren't particularly good in either game) BUT the Donny fans who rang P&G/FH last season all raved about him.

Agree, maybe lost his way a tad at Reading, but hasn't he been injured? Never knowingly seen him play but I'm sure our fans were moaning when Reading signed him and was the type of player we should have been signing.

Fortune made his best contribution to SUFC not on the pitch, but in his article on the official site, he says that players such as Jags & Kila have played alongside Morgan and really benefited from it by getting good moves, Morgs isnt' getting any younger but I think he has one more potential 2-3 year spell of marshalling our defence alongside a younger CB such as Mills.

He's intimating that its going to be another loan though. Im not interested in loan players anymore. Fed up of it. I take it someone has pocketed the Kilgallon money already then?

With Cotts and Killa going, Cresswell, Yeates and Siep coming in, there probably isn't much left anyway, just enough to cover another loanee's wages or cheap(ish) purchase.

Also stated that blackie has a defender lined up and will know within the next 48 hours as to whether he is available, as it's dependant upon the PREMIERSHIP club getting their man first!

That rules out Reading and Mills then!

On BladesMad someone has been told it's Nosworthy, which ties in with Bruce after Kaboul and/or that other fella St Ledger

Really Lou?

Personally I couldn't give a fuck. I mean, ideally I'd like a good centre back on a permanent loan. But you can't just pluck one out of the air. I'm sure that if we loan Mills, there would be an option to sign him permanently at the end of the season anyhow.

Don't worry, BB says there's investment on the way.....................

I was sort of thinking that the Cotts/Creswell thing balanced itself out (that's a whole debate of it's own!) and we should be in a lot of credit with the Yeates/Killa deal.
So what is the deal with Siep? Is he only a loan? If so, and he's out for 6 weeks, then won't he have gone back (or is it a Blackwell 6 weeks = 2 games)?

Nosworthy's out with an ankle injury at the mo, sounds about right :o

Wouldn't surprise me if he lines up tonight to be honest. We've had at least 5 or 6 immediate post match 'it'll be up to 6 weeks' comments this season and they've been back within a week.

If that was the case then I would be a little more for it but if we dont have the money now I dont see how we would have the money at the end of the season. Without a promotion windfall or some sort of miraculous investment I doubt we will spend as much as 500K in the summer. All we seem to do is continuously cut our cloth.

We need to start assembling a decent sized squad of permanently contracted players, otherwise we are going to have to go through that fiasco every summer of only having about 14 players - resulting in two free transfers and 4 loan signings to plug the gaps......with no back up.

We have to remember that certain players will be gone at the end of the season;

Camara (end of contract)
Walker (back to spurs)
Harper (end of contract)
Bunn (back to Blackburn)
Seip (back to Plymouth)
Fortune (end of contract)
Montgomery (isnt his contract up soon as well?)
Little (end of contract)

I'm probably forgetting a host of others.....

I know im ranting Ollesendro and I apologise but im ticked off with the way the football side of things is being run at the moment. We are living on such fine margins and we will never win anything whilst we're relying on a squad of loanees and short termers.

I feel your pain Lou and I think it's important that we get pen to paper as much as possible.

I've highlighted the players that we can and hopefully will sign up at the end of the season.

We still have a very good attacking core to the team. Quinn, Hendo, Creswell, Evans, Ward, Yeates and Williamson are all on long terms deals.

I'm not disagreeing with you Lou. I am frustrated about our thin squad, but more to it the short term-ism that KB/Km have isntilled (in terms of playing staff). However, my point is that a decent loanee is (although not ideal) it's better than nothing at all!

Fair point. I hope that the players you highlighted will sign permanently. I am most hopeful of Harper as I think he will want to stay if we make a good fist of the promotion challenge.

Time will tell - it seems quite apparent that we need the elusive investment. Without it we're doomed to mediocrity.

do you REALLY hope we sign up fotune???

Mills and Ingmarsson are Reading's current centre-backs, both slow according to my Reading mate, as is Pearce who has been dropped but the fans seem to like him.
If they are slow, surely there has to be a place for them in our back four.

Been moaning about the loan system, evr since the end of last season.

It's a sop to the premiership clubs.
They can snap up all the best players/potential players, and to keep them sweet when they get brassed off at not playing they loan them out to mugs like us, ( but what's the option ? ).
Then they either take them back & play them or use them as a deal elsewhere.

Ones that particularly brassed me off were Halford for us, and when Man utd. loaned Frasier Campbell to Hull , he did great helping Hull to promotion , then they pulled him back & used him as a swop in the berbatov deal with Spurs, leaving Hull high & dry.

The same will happen to us if we ever get promoted all the loanee's will be held to ransome & we'll have to rebuild virtualy a new squad.

Anyway, about KB's releases:-

Yeah he really is gonna come out on radio/TV & tell everyone, we've got LOADSA MONEY & lookin to buy isn't he ?

He is also goin to let Reading know whose playin & whose not, he's done this before & I hope he keeps on doin it, keep the buggers guessin.

Come on guy's grow up, stop whingin when he's trying to use the spin in our favour

UTB

Palace in admin.

Go get Jose Fonte... or Claude Crazylegs.

Damnit.

Still, Claude with a broken neck is better than Andrew Davies. Get him back!

There is nothing clever about the words he is using and there is no spin involved. We really are potless. I like your optimism but the guy isnt joking - loan market time!

You know what its funny cos I was at Sheffield Station last tuesday and saw Claude leaving via the car park entrance. Walked right past me listening to reggae and bouncing up and down

Thought to myself then he would probably be useful to us now. Not sure what he was doing in Sheff though. Must still live here and commute.
