Great result on Saturday, unfortunately matched by Bolton on Monday night, so it's back as it were and the importance of a victory tonight is now elevated. Admittedly promotion will not be won or lost in December but equally we must not give a boost to our rivals by not winning our fore hastened match - if that's even a phrase :)

Coventry are on pretty much in disarray at the moment and have lost their last 5, cue banana skin.....

Anyway...

Any team news? :)

Keep it unchanged?

Little else to add, after Saturdays performance.

Lavery perhaps a little more time from the bench though?

Televised matches are always nervous time as far as United are concerned, as is playing teams on poor runs. However, on the whole, we seem to have stepped it up somewhat recently and you would think this should be an away victory. We shall see, and hopefully we continue our decent form with a 3-1 victory.

Safe journey to those travelling, and be loud and be proud.

Not a great believer in luck or what, according to some descriptions, appear to be Gypsy curses. What I am a firm believer in is the desire of 11 footballers to focus on the here and now, and not allow any misplaced mythology to affect their performances on the pitch. Of course you take nothing for granted, and you have to earn the right to each win. Winning runs require the awareness I'd associate with successful teams, and what I've enjoyed with this Sheffield United team is the winning mentality that Chris Wilder has instilled in this group of players. We recently had a blip, we lost a couple of games and our response has been to regroup, bounce back, and show the mettle that exists amongst Wilder's team. One thing I look for is whether a group of players has pride in their performance, and it pleases me that Wilder has managed to assemble a group who have the ability to weather the storm, get back on track, and resume their wining ways.

We should focus on ourselves, let the opposition concern themselves with what we can do, the result being that we give ourselves the boost necessary to take the game to Coventry. This Sheffield United side is one of the best I can recall for many years. There should be no room for doubt, we have the capabilities to beat whoever we confront in this division. Now is the time to lay a marker down, let the rest of this division know that the Blades of yesteryear are no more, this United side are made of sterner stuff, we have the resolve and ability to create our own destiny, we have the qualities I associate with a team heading for promotion UTMB!

On the early train to the smoke for a couple of meetings before heading up to Coventry later. 2nd away trip of the season and hoping we can carry on from Saturday.

Guy I work with puports to be a Cover fan and was singing silly songs to me yesterday (something about Sky blue), the sad thing is he can't remember the last game he went to.

So come on you wizaaaaaaaaaaards, nice big win so I can smile patronisingly next time I see him and wish him well with his armchair based relegation fight!

Setting off later a few beers the mighty blades and a chat with Pommpey about the desso ,:).

I don't expect them to roll over but I strongly suspect that 5 losses is about to become 6. I think our lads learnt a harsh lesson against Charlton and Walsall and don't see us wasting our dominance very often from now on.

Why did i have the Dambusters theme tune running through my head while i read this ?????? :)

Why did i have the Dambusters theme tune running through my head while i read this ?????? :)

Because I was in Churchillian mode? Because my call to arms came directly from my spunkbag? Because I'm sick and tired of what we've been served up for too many years, and now we have a great manager plus a set of players who actually look like they want promotion as much as the supporters?

Never mind the fucking Dambusters Large, imagine I Vow To Thee, My Country.......now there's a song to stir the senses! UTMB.....and a joyful 3 points tonight!

Yes it would have been a banana skin under Clough and Adkins.

If Coventry get anything tonight then they will have deserved it.

Walsall wasn't a banana skin we deserved to win comfortably - but that's football.

We will get more Walsall results because we are L1 - one thing that CW won't allow is for us to be dicked even before we kick off by the sort of comments that Clough and Adkins used to come out with and for our team to be on the back foot before the start of a game..

Well...

We're playing a club in turmoil...
Who have lost 5 on the bounce...
We hammered Swindon at the weekend...
It's on Sky...
And I'm going to my seasonal match...

United always lose in these circumstances, but this is Wilder's United, so I'm hopeful of a good night out with the old man. Just hope the M6 isn't too bad on the way down

For those that cannot travel to the fine city of Coventry, any pubs in town likely to have a few blades in later? Working until 19:30 so seems the sensible thing to do en-route home!

Have we ever played a leaguegame on a thursday before, xmas/new year apart

Chris Wilder names an unchanged starting XI for Thursday night's televised encounter at Coventry City.

The United chief keeps faith with the team that disposed of Swindon Town at the weekend.

There's one enforced change on the bench. Ben Whiteman replaces Stefan Scougall, who has a tight hamstring.

Blades: Moore, Fleck, O'Connell, Basham, Sharp, Done, Coutts, Freeman, Ebanks-Landell, Duffy, Lafferty.
Subs: Hussey, Lavery, Ramsdale, Wright, Brown, Whiteman, Clarke.

Just wondered if there might be a kick off delay? Severe delays reported around Derby on M1 southbound earlier. Daughter and Biggeyblade caught up in it so I assume there must be a fair few other blades as well

Gutted for Scougall as he can make a difference from the bench but hopefully we won't need anyone off it, we have Lavery and Clarke who can change it anyway and I suppose it's good for Ben Whiteman to have more squad experience, in a good squad aswell.

Come on Blades!

Hard to believe that coventry at home last year on sky we were mourning the losses of hodgy and martyn baldy harrison last thrusday was a year since we lost them, lets get another victory for them tonight

I can see why they have picked up points at home and nothing away, be 2 or 3 up already if this was at the lane, must be hard as fleck to concentrate in this game. I know I cant and im just watching it
