Rotherham are so much like a Warnock side. Combative and a bit agricultural. Jurassic long throws and hoofs to t’big lads hoping for a rebound.
We struggled to cope with it and downright panicked in the last few minutes.

The Warnock days are stamped all over them.

Not sure why we are trying to forensically dissect every second of Johnsons run & discuss how many scapegoats we want to make culpable. Does it matter, really? Fact is we were not good all game & got a point we didn't deserve. I am sure Wilder & Knill will go through & point out what they wanted to happen in that situation to try & stop it happening again, it is no good looking backwards all the time, it is done & we move on, hopefully should a similar situation develop again in a future match the outcome will be different.

Here's the video. He spends some time getting the ball fully under control, and then has to beat two players, including the pacey Taylor, after that. I think we're being a bit harsh on him.



Wilder pointed out that Fleck was bombing forward to overlap, though he was really too late. Clarke wasn't really helping him out (from the screen shot you'd think a 1-2 would have been possible, but it's easier said than done). As the move broke down we had then lost three players, but we had plenty of other players back to deal with the situation. The errors of Stevens and Norwood, bad luck and poor refereeing (it was offside) were the main reasons we conceded.

I'm not sure why everyone is saying he needed to get it into the corner somehow.
Just turn and knock a simple ball back to Fleck and then retain possession for 3 minutes.
Like we normally do 20 times a game but somehow can't seem to do when we're holding a lead.

Brainless and selfish of Johnson to run into trouble instead of passing.
Nothing wrong with pointing that out although the usual "send him back" scapegoating is obviously out of order.

Can't see whether anyone is running forward to Clarke's right, but could Clarke have bent his run towards Johnson a bit more to give him another pass option? To be fair to Johnson, I don't think the defender knows much about blocking the attempted nutmeg - the ball just hits him.

But at the moment the ball ricochets off the defender, they have 1 man just in front of the ball and 5 behind it. Shouldn't be scoring from that situation so you'd have to put Stevens & Norwood down as more culpable than Johnson.

I think that was a home game in 2004; we won 2-1(?) and Dion Dublin playing at Centre Half snapped a young Jonathan Forte in half.
I think Sean is referring to an away match in 2009, 0-0 I believe.
