Closer. Whatever that means
Don't like to be a cynic but i've honestly never seen Nixon actually post anything of true substance. But then again i'm not on twitter so maybe i'm missing something.

I'm not saying he's not ITK, as plenty of people say he is, but that if he is i've yet to see him post anything that couldn't just as easily have been written by someone making it up and covering their tracks using cryptic BS language.

Still hope he's right on this one though

Clarke got 3 more goals than him last season and he was signed for nearly 40 times less than that. We bought Sharp for a bit more than half a million and he got 13. Both are only a few years older and had significantly less play time than Waghorn. He’s a good player and I’d sign him, but fucking not for £7 million. Christ, he is not worth that at all.
Waghorn was playing in a boring, shit negative team last season and ended with 16 goals and 11 assists, with the chances we create and the flowing style of play he should fit in really well. You will always pay over the odds for a decent striker, it’s to be expected.

This is all about improving what we have already and bringing in players that bring us better balance.

I don’t know of another player available to us that is a lefty, has a high work rate, can drift wide, corners, freekicks and score goals! This improved the team and will allow fleck more chance to get forward. I love it personally. Yes it’s a lot of money but what he brings to the team and how he could improve the fluidity could be immense.

Balance balance balance

Amen brother.

Really hope this doesn't happen, a huge amount of money on a 28 year old who has had one good season at championship level.

Sorry Chris, not with you on this one. Far too much money, the risk is too great.

Actually looks quality here. You’ve convinced me. Scored against Wednesday home and away too, haha, cunts.

Some great goals in there, best watched with the sound off though. Also love McGoldricks skills for the assist on the 3rd goal, very tasty.

Just seen Waghorns stats from last season.

Played 44
Scored 16
Assisted 11

Played mostly in an attacking midfield position.

To put that at the side of our top scorer last season, Clarke..

Played 39 (38 starts)
Scored 19
Assisted 5

I never knew Waghorn had such a great season. For a poor Ipswich side, too.

I might be more open to the idea of spending this amount on him if someone could tell me how many goals and assists he got last season...
Kin ell Ricky. Its on page 1, three times on page 2, 5 times on page 3, twice on page 4............ But in case you missed see the post in front of this one.
Wonder if we can get the title changed to Martin Waghorn (16 goals 11 assists)

Completely agree Joe, it's a case of needs must, and the only (understandable I admit) reason some of us are concerned is because until now we've shopped at the penny sherbet shop, so the thought of spending significant sums agitates some of us.

What happens come the day that we spend a few million on a player that doesn't work out? Do we stop pursuing players in this price range? Of course not. Hopefully mistakes will be few and far between, but they happen to the best of clubs so a little perspective might help.

Right now we need someone with enough guile who knows the game and understands what's necessary to help his team win. Finger's crossed Waghorn is that man.

The more I think about Waghorn the more I think he would be a fantastic signing, especially after speaking to a Town supporting mate. He really doesn't want him to go and feels that if it wasn't for Waghorn they would have been down before Christmas last season.

He carried Ipswich last season and spent most of the time playing a deep, withdrawn role. My mate thinks that if he is left alone to be a striker he will score a shit load!

£40m rated Jack Grealish managed 3 goals last season and 6 assists.
£225m rated, 28 year old spot-kick supremo, Fernando Forestieri has never managed 16 goals in the Championship or provided more than 6 assists.

I think Grealish is a great player, the stats don't show you him running a game and keeping the pressure on the oppo.

You've under valued Foresteri. The difficulty for him is that he's only used to playing front 100k plus crowds every week, so there's virtually no where he can go

I don't know how good Egan and Waghorn are, but after years of crap ,until CW turned up, I am enjoying reading about players who should make a huge difference to us this season and hopefully more players,I really am enjoying the moment, even more so when there is nothing happening in Kim Jon Yung land.there are obviously no guarantees but I am getting really excited about the new season, come on enjoy it, its involvement in the market like this we have been craving for for years, think I'll go for a beer, anybody fancy one outside?

I put Waghorn top, middle and center of my wishlist late last season. He run us ragged more than once.

I will be delighted if we sign him.

I trust the people doing to bidding and negotiation to not destabilise the mid to long term security of the club so, honestly, couldn't care less if it's £7m or 1 pence.
