Been mentioned a few times but he was also my MOTM tonight, thought he was excellent. Like the majority I was concerned when the team was announced but we looked brilliant at the back all evening.

Defensively fine. Got forward more as we went on but still gets a bit of a nose bleed within 25yards of opposition goal. At least I wasn't shitting myself everytime it went near him.

He is just a good, solid pro who comes in and does exactly what is required from him when he is needed, also thought Stearman was great tonight. It is reassuring to know that we have the strength in depth that we need to keep this tilt at promotion going.

Thought he was absolutely quality. Not the biggest but solid as a rock at the back.

very very good tonight. even looked like he might get a good strike away on goal when he burst into the box, got a nose bleed so put in a cross to back post instead. not as effective as Basham, but certainly a good deputy

More worried about the missing O'Connell

I'd still take Bash back for me once available, but Cranie did really well tonight, as did Stears and the back 4 as a whole. Great defensive performance.

What did Sky commentators and pundits have to say about the match and in particular us?

There weren't any pundits. It was a glorified red button game really. Tony Gayle was on co comms. He was slating boro a lot for being so negative and playing backwards first half. Then praised us for getting at them second half and getting a fully deserved win.

Brilliant performance, I've been a little apprehensive when he's played, but the times he's played, he's been quite solid in his performance. Tonight was on another level for me... great touch and anticipation. Fills the role perfectly.

Cranie looked a good steady player last night, didnt do anything wrong at all or out of the ordinary.. exactly the type of player what we need as cover at times like this!

Both Cranie and Stearman deserve credit. Testament to Wilder for finding these types of players who can have little involvement, no sulking and when called upon out in huge performances.

I am sure both of them could find clubs and get regular games if they had of wanted to!

I’ve not seen a lot of him before, but he looks a proper footballer. Touch and composure on top of defensive excellence tonight. Even a couple of bombs forwards in the Basham style. I had Billy MOTM with Cranie not far behind.

What our management can find/do with limited funds is amazing.

And what a dinosaur like Pulis can do to fuck a decent player's career up is amazing.

Ain't got Sky so I've been watching Quest. Norwich and Leeds are still on...

Tut, tut.

I think the switch to 4 at the back put more onus on each defender to step up and take responsibility. Which they all did in spades. Maybe we should stick with it for now?

Cranie - Egan - JOC/Stearman - Stevens

Also managed to steal about 25 yards up the pitch for a throw in. Some sort of record.
That was unbelievable, ball went out in line with the 18 yard box and he took it from in front of the dugouts. Then on the next one the referee pulls him back for 3 yards, which just about summed that cunt up

I wondered who it was. Reminded me a bit of Bassett. He was critical of things that were poor, like McGoldrick’s shooting but seemed quite fair minded, said it as he saw it (quite unusual for a southerner).

We deserved to win and he was right in saying so.

Deserves another year. If only as back up to Gary Sinclair. He’s better than the other bloke. It’s our MC - Martin Cranie!!

I get the Madine/Cranie/Hogan/plus several others thing. But in the coming days when Wilder sobers up there has to be some serious planning that overcomes sentiment. As much as we love every squad member right now the summer has to be brutal and I expect several squad memebers to leave. We are no longer a big fish in a big pond and we have to prepare correctly to give us a chance in the big league.

I think the brutality will come, a few of the League one team members, think Freeman will be off, Wright released, couple of bought out contracts, Holmes, Lavery, Carruthers. Washington not given another contract perhaps.

Cranie though, he's class, he's played a bit in the Premier League and it'll be good to have him in reserve.
