He's already misjudged and ran under more headers in his blades career than anyone else I can remember. That's a really poor trait for a 6' 4" centre half.
Apparently Egan was poor at that.
I always thought that was bullshit.

This is what being poor at that really looks like.

Agreed we've had a nightmare with the loan signings. Only Ogbene worth keeping on evidence so far and he's not been great
Not been convinced with Ogbene at all, I wasn't enthused by his signing in the first place.

He is very limited and I don't fancy him against McBurnie one bit on the weekend. However, he is comfortably a better bet than Bindon. So unless Godfrey comes in and plays on the side, with Mee in the centre of the back 3, I imagine he is in until January
I think it was T-Blade who said on here that panic had set in and we where chucking bids everywhere in August, I imagine this was one of them signings. Another example of the poor recruitment this summer

McGuinness has been poor and being saddled with him for 4 years is utter lunacy. The only reason I can think of for starting him is the fact that he's big and just looks quite imposing.

That is until the whistle blows and he seems to be everywhere that the ball isn't. Compare that to Harry Souttar who just dominated everything and was handy with the ball at his feet

I think the hope was that we had a Souttar-type replacement but they're world's apart. We might as well give Zatterstrom a go as have him in the team for what he's delivered so far.

Nobody in the entire squad has been great but I dont think McGuinness has been any shitter than the majority of the squad. WhoScored actually have him as our best performing player (granted 4 games isnt a big enough sample size) and gave him MOTM vs Oxford.

The club is all over the place from top to bottom at the minute, I dont see how McGuinness has warrented being written off after 4 games, but I guess some people always need a scapegoat.

Decent in the air. He looked very slow both to react and chase the Blackburn player who got the right wing cross in for their goal.

My favourite moment though was when he felt a push in the back as he went for a header so he fell over and it was Ben Mee doing the pushing, which doesn’t count as a foul 🙂

To be fair it wasn't his man, Mee went walk abouts & McGuinnes came across to cover/track his man, hes not quickest to start with so he was never going to make that ground up, then Mee tried getting back to track the other runner that went central but couldn't make the ground up either.

Think you are being kind there, thought he was guilty of ball watching rather than reacting.

However, they put a lot of balls in the box and he always looked comfortable with that side of it.

The big problem with that goal was that we got caught up the pitch because cannon lost the ball in what was basically a tussle with himself. That was why we were out of position.

I think McGuinness will come good. Although his standard hasn’t been at the level we need (like several others too), I don’t think he’s been as bad as some describe on here.

The improvement we’ve seen in the last few games is encouraging.

Let’s not forget he’s a young lad, who is now playing in team growing in confidence. I imagine Wilder offers him a clearer role than he had at the beginning of the season. He’s also playing alongside two of the best defenders in the league.

Lets get behind him and give him the support he needs

He has been fine up to now ,but some have made up their mind from all the games theyve seen him play before he came (probably 2) he has been better than Tanganga and Mee in most games but some blind eyes have already decided.
What games has he been better than Mee in?

I think similar to someone like Jake Wright, if we can make sure he doesn't get exposed for his lack of pace, he can operate well centrally in a 3.

He is clearly very dominent in the air and an improvement on Robinson.

Godfrey is terrible needs to go back asap
I feel like something has happened privately in his life, he looks absolutely devoid of any self esteem and confidence. I don't think his issues are stemming from lack of ability on the pitch, it's a lack of belief.

Hope the lad can pull himself together if I'm right, seems like a nice kid. Unfortunately we can't afford people hanging on to our coat tails, him, Bindon and Barry all need their loans terminating.

Usually agree with your posts but not this one. Miles behind Tanganga and Mee so far. Cumbersome and slow as treacle. Not getting on his back, he's clearly trying. Needs to improve.

Better than Tango and Mee come on.

You know he’s getting better and putting some decent performances in, cos the posts have slowed down on this (slagging off) thread! 🤣

I had written him off but last few he's looked capable. He's your standard head it kick it centre half. Fine with the game in front of him or getting his head on crosses in either box. He's not one you want running back towards goal - but you could say that about Mee as well as the likes of Souttar and Maguire. If we set up correctly to protect against this then he'll be pretty dependable
