CONFIRMED Mark McGuinness - 4 year contract

Couldn't sign Jake Cooper so we've inputted some data into the computer and signed someone of a similar profile.

Mcguinness and Tanganga skillsets hopefully can compliment one another in a centre back pairing, similar to that of Cooper and Tanganga had at Millwall.

Hopefully he doesn’t score against us every time he plays

From what I've seen, he's no Bobby Thomas... and I thought we should be aiming higher than Bobby Thomas (which we eventually did with Tanganga).

Think Matos was a Selles signing, saw a quote from his interview, that he spoke to him after the Hull Oxford game last season and was impressed with what he was doing at Hull.

Bindon and Barry are definitely Selles signings.

As for the others, I reckon most of them are from CW's list, spearheaded by the recruitment team that he left us with (Mike Allen and Jamie Hoyland mainly).

Ogbene, Mee, Ings, Tanganga, Godfrey, they're all signings I would have expected Wilder to make.

Chong, McGuinness and Soumare, who knows who pushed for them.

I can definitely see Tanganga and Godfrey being on Wilders list. Not so sure on Ogbene as unsure where he would have fit in a Wilder system. Although Mee and Ings are great signings for us now, I don’t think Wilder would have gone for another CB and with Ings 50/50 potentially

I think we need a set piece coach, I don't know if Selles has one or if we have the money but Knill could have slotted into that role. The only true masterpiece of a free kick I have seen in my years was the bouncing day massacre one. Other than that it was the Beattie smashing it from 25 + yards

You could apply that to a lot of centre halves. Egan for example, but he was part of a superb defence and served this club proud. Thats because he was part of a team. A team that had balance and shared different attributes. You will not get one player at this level who is good at all aspects of the game. We desperately need someone to head it and dominate in the air. Thats why he's been signed.

Mee has years of experience and McGuiness is only 24 so has the potential to develop into a top stopper. Combine those attributes with Tanganga and we should have a solid pairing with plenty of depth in case of injuries and suspensions.

I like players who don't get yellow cards Mcguiness has 30 in 217 games about 1 in 7. Anel has 58 in 236 games about 1 in 4 . That says a lot to me

I'm not convinced McGuiness just for starters was Selles signing and probably others. It will be interesting v Ipswich if Selles is still here to see if he persists with Bindon and Barry. I think he will.
