In all seriousness, he was one of the most dominant CBs in the air last season according to the stats altho his pass completion is below average. Better in the air than Anel, which may mean he'll be a good partner for Tanganga.

Was key to our good performances early last season. Souttar did the meat and tatoes and Ahmedhodzic did the running abaht.

Could be a great combination with Tanganga, Godfrey is an upgrade on Gilchrist. Or it could all go horribly wrong.

Odd.

It's only odd if we didn't offer the 4 year deal.
Chance is that Tanganga might have wanted a shorter deal, so he's not tied here for too long if things don't go to plan.
Matos is very young and inexperienced so possibly the opposite way round, and United played it safe.

I'm not going to claim to know loads about McGuiness, other than - whenever I've seen him against us he's had an absolute stinker.

I couldn't believe it when Luton paid £10m for him.
Presumably they saw something in him, but it feels a very strange move.

McGuinness sounds good, hopefully the Harry Souttar replacement we’ve needed since Christmas. But we’ve had plenty of “great on paper” this transfer window & here we are: us and Wolves, the only pointless sides in the top 6 tiers of English football.

I also don’t get the fuss about his past. The way some are carrying on, you’d think he came through the Wednesday academy. He was there for 5 months, played 17 games, 3 years ago.

You could apply that to a lot of centre halves. Egan for example, but he was part of a superb defence and served this club proud. Thats because he was part of a team. A team that had balance and shared different attributes. You will not get one player at this level who is good at all aspects of the game. We desperately need someone to head it and dominate in the air. Thats why he's been signed.

Mcguinness and Tanganga skillsets hopefully can compliment one another in a centre back pairing, similar to that of Cooper and Tanganga had at Millwall.
