It vaguely makes sense if you're returning to a conversation that was broken off. That was the only time you'd hear it used up till about a couple of years ago. A few people at work start EVERY SINGLE sentence with it.

Ranks up there with 'Can I get...'.

People often start a sentence with an irrelevant word though. Like ‘well’ or ‘nah then’. It’s a way of announcing you’re going to say something which is helpful for people like me with short attention spans. Otherwise I tend to miss the first bit of the sentence because I wasn’t paying full attention. Doing it every sentence does grate though. Like ‘literally’. It’s a good word when used correctly but annoying when it’s overused and unnecessary “I literally drove to the shop”. As opposed to metaphorically?

Agreed, that's why it's used (often by teachers) when a conversation has broken down or taken a short break for clarification or something. But it's pointless when...''So....I've got potted beef for lunch''. Were we talking about what we have for lunch? Or the burgeoning popularity of meat-paste products?

Wasn't as square ball as it seemed. Was actually quite high and the ball just wouldn't drop before the defender got across. Can't remember which defender but it wasn't Hunt as he was on his arse the mug.

I was watching the game at home and totally lost it when that goal went in. I was sprinting around the room like a madman.
The adrenalin boost meant I had to go outside into the street to sprint up and down the street a bit to get rid of the excess energy.

The Duffy goal and the Peschilodlio (however it’s spelt) versus Forest are the 2 greatest moments I’ve had supporting us.
Duffy played some beautiful football for us….surprised he never became a nationally known player.
I used to bring Southern and overseas guests to watch us in league 1 and several times these people commented that our best player who stood out was Duffy.

That day you could choose several players who stood out, Coutts influence being one such. Mustn't forget that cracker of a free-kick from Fleck with a 'little' assistance from Coutts.

That goal for me was possibly my high point of being a Blade. No single moment in the Premiership felt as good as that moment. After years of shit from those blue and white scrubbers to beat them at the rustbucket was the pinnacle

That’s why that day was so important and dare I say it…..massive. It was the day the tide turned regarding who were the top dogs in the city.

We were clearly the higher quality side and deserved the win…..if anything we deserved a bigger win than 4-2….that scoreline flattered them.
Spoke to a few Wednesdayites that season and they all said we were up there as one of the best visiting teams they saw that season.

Don't think you're being pedantic at all. Duffy's goal couldn't have been scored at a better moment, it took the stuffing out of them and the way it hit that emotional nerve-end will never be bettered. I know Duffy has said it was 'just' an instinctive effort, but it was pure class of the highest order.
