Mark Duffy

I’m willing to bet that he will never get a good nights sleep for the rest of his life because of his/agents self inflicted decision. He would have featured on numerous times last season ,instead he was warming Stoke city’s bench. Imagine being as good and important to us as Duffy was, and not having had one minute of premier league football to your name because you, or your agent, were as thick as f#ck?

None of us will ever know what really happened, but his version of events in that Athletic Article was that his agent told him there was interest from other clubs, so he (Duffy) took it upon himself to speak to Wilder about it and try to get another contract in motion. Wilder didn't like that, as he felt he went about it the wrong way, and effectively froze him out from that point.

Wilder may have a different take on things but I do recall him saying something along the lines of 'Mark has had offers but you will have to ask him about it' to journalists when speculation started to mount about Duffy leaving.

Duffy also said in the same article that he held no grudge whatsoever, that he respected Wilder's stance at the time, that he realised the time was right to move on, and still rooted for United when we played. As you say though, I find it hard to believe that this hasn't been gnawing away at him ever since

I didn't realise Duffy had joined Fleetwood until this morning, but genuinely GLTTL.

Wonder if Bash will end up there when he's finally released from us? Once he's picked up his Premier League winners medal of course....

Does anyone know if Fleetwood are attempting to replicate our system too?

Fleetwood 1-2 down at half time in cup to-day in cup to Wigan. Duffy comes on for second half they win 3-2 and he provides the assist for Cheds winner and second goal of the game. Hope Fleetwood draw the pigs in the next round that would be interesting.

Maybe the trio get a cup return to the Lane?

GLTTL

Hindsight is a wonderful thing as he's now found out and he just needs to learn from it and enjoy the rest of his footballing career as much as he can.

I'm still gonna keep my avatar though. ;) :)

They’d batter them

Barton isn't intelligent enough to use our system.

What punishment did the pigs get , for throwing that Bottle at him ?

For fuck’s sake. “So” is not an acceptable sentence starting point. 😡

It vaguely makes sense if you're returning to a conversation that was broken off. That was the only time you'd hear it used up till about a couple of years ago. A few people at work start EVERY SINGLE sentence with it.

Ranks up there with 'Can I get...'.

Call them out on it, it's wrong. I actually had a whatsapp from a mate the other day saying that he was about to start a sentence in a meeting with 'So' but then he heard my voice in his head telling him to stop being a c*nt and he used another word. I'd like to think I'm changing the world little by little.

Fair play. I have to watch myself at the bar when I've had a few if someone asks ''Can I get...'' because the more drunk I am the louder the ''Oh for f*cks sake....'' gets.

Thanks for reaching out to me, hence why I've replied.

Grrrrrrr

I’m the same. If I was serving them I’d reply “I’m sorry, we don’t do self service”, move on to the next person and leave them bemused and wondering......

Either that or just tell them to “fuck off”

He inflicted the killer blow, on their most humiliating day in recent history. Just as they thought they thought they were back in control, bang!!!

The wound still lingers...it will never fully heal......

I went to the last match of the season at Grimsby, almost 20000 crammed in Blundell park, got beat 4-0..
relegation the season after,Porterfield came and we had that magic season in division 4
One more decent season then we had to wait till Harry took over to put one over the pigs
Do you remember Harry Haslam coming over to applaud us all on the away end Ecco ?,tears in his eyes, touched by our magnanimity. Any neutral would have though we'd won 4 0.😊

now you mention it,yes mate,we also played Grimsby that season in the fa cup just before Christmas, and lost 2-0,then we played them at the Lane just after THAT Boxing Day match, drew 1-1
41 years ago, fucking hell, where does the time go?

I have no idea mate, but I've done my best to cram plenty in. Another 41 years would make me 101. If I make it and this Forum still thrives we might be reminiscing about Wilder crying his eyes out whilst lifting the "European Cup" as I prefer to call it,for his beloved Blades .
You never know. It's the dreams that keep us semi obsessed.😆
