Duffy Coutts and Fleck. ....We'd have sold our souls for just ONE of those three going back several years.
They are without doubt THE best midfield in this division. ..and this from someone who's seen us screw it up time and again.. ... .and expects the worst.....wouldn't swap one if them for all the tea in China.

Duffy and Fleck. .... receive ball, either foot, beat man,run in to space and attack.
Coutts. ..mop up, spray it about pinpoint pass see what develops.
I would love to hear what Coutts has to say comparing the current management team against the previous gaffers at The Lane

Think Coutts has more confidence in his knee this season as well. The injury he suffered will have affected him as much mentally as well as physically. Having suffered pain like that once trust me you don't want to feel it again.

Bloke sat behind me in the south stand moaning his bollocks off about Duffy for the majority of the game, after he scored twice he then started moaning about how he plays too "tippy, tappy". There's no pleasing. Absolutely outstanding performance from the guy, can turn opposition inside out, great touch and vision. Most impressive thing I've noticed about him is when he's near the opposition box and he's 1 on 1 with the defender, and he's just waiting for the defender to make a move, then makes so much space to whip a ball in and find a pass. Not a bad performance from any of the lads today. UTB

A lot of it about. People make their mind up about a player and it takes a long time to change that opinion. And that's if they've got the capacity to change it...

And about his previous colleagues in midfield.

He still looks like he hesitates going in but I don't blame him one bit!

one guy in front of me said , get him off, after 20 mins, cus he had done nothing!! Thank god these people arent in charge of the team!

I have been duffies biggest fan before he was fuckin born, I wanrt his babies,

Duffy is on fire your defence is terrified..... na na na na na na na na na

Mark Duffy would find space in a sleeping bag already occupied by Gemma Collins.
Wouldn't need any space in the sleeping bag - would just get completely enveloped by her flesh. - with no appreciable increase in external mass.
Brian Cocks.

I really think Duffy stood out, but who cares?:)

Coutts was fucking brilliant today. His short range passing is phenomenal. He lacks that forward drive, but he's working on it

I certainly wouldn't argue against Duffy being MOTM. I mean, two goals and an assist speaks for itself.

How much did we pay to get the services of Coutts, Duffy, and Fleck? ... Sod all :)

we all love a bargain don't we.

I don't usually have 'favourite' players. The last one probably being Deano, and before him Alexandro Sabella. However, I have become besotted with John Fleck. The bloke is just an all round fookin good footballer...How the hell have we got him playing for us in the 3rd division?

Got clapped off at the Lane for scunny years ago after being the best player on the pitch. Always wanted to sign him since then and so glad we have him now.

Weird thing with Duffy is that he has a bit of the Gordon Cowans about him. I.e. A class player that's spent most of his career in the top division then come down to the lower division because he's getting older.

However his cv is very modest.

Wonder why he's generally plied his trade in the lower divisions. He looks far too good for league 1.

A theory could be the position he plays. I assume in his career he's played as a tricky winger which he's good at BUT this season he's given a free floating position in midfield where he's found dribbling past midfielders easier than dribbling past a full back. Also it helps that his team mates Fleck and Coutts are comfortable on the ball so can receive a pass even when they are semi marked up.

I think that performance from Duffy was the best I've seen from a Blades player in several seasons, certainly for skill and entertainment value, and the fact that Fleck and Coutts were only a fraction behind him says everything about our current midfield three.

When did we last have 3 players who are so good on the ball playing there?

I have liked Duffy from the first time he played for us. He just seems to have grown in stature with every game, but he has always wanted the ball, has always wanted to go forward, and has been tireless. Fantastic fit with Wilder's preferred style of play. Yesterday he was awesome. Seemed to be everywhere and created a huge amount of opportunity.
I hadn't realised quite how old he is (31 in October). I just hope he proves to be made of the same stuff as Ryan Giggs and we get a few more seasons of similar quality, because I think he'd still boss things in a higher division.
He's a joy to watch (as are the other midfield players to be fair)

Sometimes it takes couple of months to fully settle then BOOM!

I think he used to commute to burton, don't know if he's moved now or travels in with JOC?

Don't think we ever had. We've had some quality individuals supplying good forwards being supported by grafters - but never anything like we have now.
Maybe Silent can remember otherwise?

Duffy was absolutely class yesterday. Coutts and Fleck were awesome but fuck me, this guy took the fucking piss. He was having Swindon's pants down all over the shop and making it look easy. Swaggering his way to MOM but at the same time being a refreshingly humble fella who just loves football and works hard for the team: Players like him have given us our club back.

We're going to rip this league a new one just like in 11/12 - hopefully with a happy ending this time. Enjoy it while it lasts folks.

It was a toss up between Duffy, Coutts and Fleck for MOM.

Makes actually getting Duffy to come in the summer seem more impresive - he was in League One team of season, just got promotion with Burton - very good work by our club to get him to sign for us.

Love the fact that Duffy, even when he's going through spells of playing poorly, just keeps on demanding the ball.

He might have overhit/underhit his last five passes or crosses - but so what! he'll just try again, trusting his own ability that it'll come good. And his work ethic never drops regardless of how he's playing.

After seeing player after player after player retreat into their shells over recent years, it's fantastic to see (& no doubt it's an attitude that rubs off on other players around him).

In saying that, it sounded like he played like a dream yesterday. And when he does, there's no more elegant player in a United shirt (not even Coutts at his best).

My favourite player these days.
