Marcus Williams - Questions

Hill and Williams were no worse than they usually are - its just that most of the others were worse!
But the alarming fact is that the bloke in charge doesn't appear to recognise any of these facts.
We have a guy taking corners and free kicks that can't beat the first man, Cresswell has been watching Super Sunday and throws himself to the ground any time he goes for the ball and Hoylands Hole appears to be getting plenty of use this year!

Until we see them play then we have to trust that Wilson knows best. However, the poor showing of his "out of position" players coupled with the hype about the academy makes this hard to believe.
Most football managers are conservative (small c rather than slavering Walthy types) by nature and will stick with what they know rather than take a risk (see the likes of Tonge waiting months to replace Ford or Naughton only getting his chance when Sun got suspended and we had no other option).
Wilson seems happy to muddle through until he has his full 1st eleven back together but it's a hard watch at the moment.

Doyle is more than likely to miss some more games before the end of the season, so would seem ideal to at least tried Harriott for at least one game or bring him on and give him some game time. If Wilson doesn't think he is good enough he shouldn't stick him on the bench. If any of us were a footballer and couldn't get a game because the reserve right back got it we would have stuck nut on Wilson by now. Not having Tonne or McFadzean on the bench for last 4 games or so is even worse considering we are now playing a guy there who struggles to even play his own position. No wingers in the 1st 11 yet none on the bench. Basically, it's just fucking shite and we seem to be quickly going down the journeyman blackwell route

Let's look at last night.Gallagher has stated that his best (and preferred )position is on the wing and Chappell(a winger )was on the bench last night. So that is two wingers. Williams has played left midfield before at previous clubs (might not be his preferred position) so that is 3 wingers.

As for Tonne,he is just not good enough(i think only Foxy thinks he is :-) ) although I was surprised McFadzean didn't keep a place on the bench but again he is not a natural winger and has played mainly at left back.

Why try Harriott if he is not better than Westlake or McAlister? Fans were crying out for McAlisiter to to be played last season but they now seem to have gone quiet....can't think why !!!!! If DW only filled the bench with players he thought were good enough,we may only have 5 subs then people would be bemoaning that no 'youth' was on the bench filling the spaces

As for journeyman....Apart for Kitson(and possibly Creswell but he has now been with us 4 years) who are the 'journeymen' in the squad.

Finally, what is 'fucking shite'about being unbeaten for the first 7 games of the season,6th place with a brand new (and younger )team espcially through no fault of DW,he has had to cut the wage bill dramitically( 50% ?) and and find new players

It just seems that, because we aren't on 18 points, some fans just want to have a go at the club/DW etc instead of taking a step back and taking stock of the upheaval of the last 4 months

and whilst I might agree with some of the points in that post, the last sentence, to me, is just not right.

If we had got the points we have now BUT had played very well and been unlucky, then maybe I would agree. But having seen three of the four home games, I think we've been desparately poor in all bar the Bournemouth game. That's not "wanting to have a go at the club/DW", it's just the way I've seen the games.
I can't believe anyone came out of BDTBL last night thinking they'd seen anything but a pretty poor match and performance. To say it was such isn't having a go is it?

Totally agree Grecian, last nights match was extremely poor! No passion, No running and No quality (apart from Howard's 1st minute save(s)

A few points

the fucking shite is that out of 7 games I would suggest we have barely deserved to win 1, because Shrewsbury should not have lost to us.

McAllister is not a holding midfielder, he's goes chasing the ball

Journeyman are people I class should not be in the team, Williams, Gallacher, Kitson, Cresswell over kids we should be trying. If this team did get promoted the money tree is still not there to improve us. Bed the youngsters in whether it takes a 1 year or 2 otherwise we are getting promoted to come straight back down

Chappell - Not brought on yet Cofie was in his place. Why not bring Chappell and cofie on for our 2 'wingers' instead we are trying to win the game with a left back at left wing.

You can argue this till your blue in the face but it's not good enough and to make matters worse not good enough not playing our own youngsters

Michael Vaughan was tosh for Yorkshire yet great for England. Just because someone doesn't raise his game for the reserves doesn't mean that they automically are going to be crap for the seniors. You never know without trying them and not in a game with 20 spectators

Agree it's not been good enough - & much of yesterday's & previous performances has been shite - but barely desrved to win 1? We dominated at Coventry & Colchester & deserved to win both - & we deserved the win at home to Bournemouth. The only fortunate result we've had was Shrewsbury, when a draw would have been fair.

I'd actually be more worried with this scenario at I would be thinking we couldn't improve. I know that sounds a little perverse but we have got these points by playing well in the majority of games for only 45 minutes and not taking advantage(Colchester,Coventry,Shrewsbury immediately spring to mind) then not closing the games down. I just think we will improve this aspect as the seasosn goes on. (hopefully !!)

1. Why did we sign him?
2. Why does he play?
3. Why on earth did he play on left midfield?
4. Am I being too harsh as he is, in fact, slightly medically retarted?

The left hand side looked a lot better balanced than against Bury. I thought Williams had a decent game. Just shows how opinions differ but hey! you can't help it if your're wrong;)

Could be wrong but isn't McFadzean out injured or at best just on his way back from injury. Pre-season and early season it looked like he was part of the plans for the first team.

I think Wilson needs to shuffle the pack with regards to being top heavy with strikers and thin on the ground with wide players. I still think we should be attempting to get that lad Duffy (right winger) from Scunny, we could part ex Williams for him.

We couldn't get a knotted hankerchief, a conker and a piece of string part-ex for Williams!!!
