Marc McNulty

Lavery is lightweight but tricky, not sure why he came off. We really need a big, strong, fast, midfielder, one who can charge forward and not stop outside the box, but battle and drive into it, cause panic, create a situation where a foul and penalty can happen, knock defenders about and create a space for Sharp, Lavery, Freeman, etc.

Just my opinion.
Mine too. Anyone in mind though?

no disagree showed nothing imo and needs to be shipped out if possible i like lavery but wasnt too impressed with him either i think we need 2 strikers in oh and a new centre back please
Clearly the
McNulty had a real chance to make a statement today, got plenty of time to show us he belongs here. First touch was awful, second touch was worse. He had a very good chance to drill it past the keeper but hit it straight at him, for the remaining 20 minutes he was a passenger.

Surprised Wilder brought him back, more surprised he took Lavery off for him.
18 mins ffs ridiculous statement

McNulty looked fat and unfit, didn't see the point on him coming on....where there not better options on the bench?

I thought the opposite actually. I thought he looked in better shape than he has so far in his United career

he looked more fitter to me. Wilder must have had a sit down with him and talked about his future. Wilder likes to give players a chance and i guess McNulty has the rest of the season to prove himself to Chris. Maybe McNulty will 'grow up' now as I for one am surprised he's let him anywhere near the dressing room with his previous.

I've always liked the look of Marcus Maddison, can score and can assist, but hoping that CW and AK are also on the lookout for a similar player. If John Fleck was 6ft 2" he would be perfect because he has the skill and aggression but not the height/size.

I thought McNulty looked fitter and leaner than when he left on loan, but I still thought he was poor in comparison to Lavery, who I think is really starting to look good now he's fit. I felt we were missing something up front for the last 20 mins...Lavery's workrate and willingness to run into space and look for the ball seemed a million miles ahead of McNulty's yesterday.

Just my opinion mind you, but I think we've potentially got a bit of a gem in Lavery...for me McNulty should be sold if possible to raise some (albeit probably small) funds to bring in another CB.

Wilder craves a goal scorer. He craves a partner for Sharp who can share the workload and put chances away. If it was possible, I reckon he would clone Billy and play them both up top !

The nearest we have to this is McNulty. He isn't great and doesn't appear capable, at present, to do it for more than 20 mins at a time. Goes missing for long periods.

But the lad does have something. And I did see small bits of evidence to suggest he and Sharp are sort of on the same wavelength and maybe, just maybe, could develop a partnership that could, potentially, be fruitful.

But it's all ifs and buts, and I accept that. Which is to say in all probability, we won't get to see it develop, to see where it might go.

As sure as eggs is eggs Leon's failed, Done has failed and so far, without having as much opportunity, so has McNulty. Lavery has showed some promise recently, but I thought he was quite poor yesterday. But for now, he is in the seat as Billy's starting partner, and rightly so. That said, I'm not convinced. Yet !

Bit concerning that it appears to have just come to Wilders attention that we are short of quality up top, when it's been glaringly obvious to me, and a few others, for some time.

And I hope to God any deal for Hanson is short term, and that the intention is to introduce him from the bench rather than be a main striker who starts most of the time. Billy has never worked well off a target man as he lacks pace. No reason to suggest signing Hanson would work as a good foil for Sharp, as I doubt it would work. For the exact same reasons Sharp n Clarke hasn't worked (and, sorry Chris, it was never going to !).

But Hanson IS very strong in the air, and will score headed goals IF the supply is good. Which is something different to the players we currently have on the books, so, while it's not a signing I would generally advocate, as I think we should be aiming our sights higher than James Hanson, In Tufty i trust.

Perhaps if we buy them now we could transfer them again before the window shuts.

I think Clarke's a bit different to Hanson in that he's a bit more selfish. I think Hanson would look to set Billy up a bit more.

But I'm not convinced we'll ever find the ideal partner for Billy at L1 level. Ideally you need Done's effort and running but with goals and how many strikers are there playing in the lower leagues like that? Totally unselfish but with the nouse to score frequently themselves? And if there are any, I doubt our owners would be willing to pay for them.

Josh Morris, Scunthorpe, 17 goals, 9 assists.

Did you miss my last line? And even if we offered £1m for him they wouldn't sell him to us.

No Bushter, I saw your last line pal, and I was agreeing with you, sorry if I did not put my point across properly, I was meaning that a player like you describe are like rocking horse shit, very rare indeed, only one obvious one fits the bill, Josh Morris, and he is going nowhere.
