We are too far down the road with our Nige now. He will be with us next season, however we need to question his tactics and transfers

I agree Unfortunatley, they would never have sanctioned the spending on the ex Derby lads, and the likes of Brayford would never have come if there was any chance Clough was going to be gone in the summer, plus they would have to shell out whacking great compo for Clough and his team if they were sacked, that isn't going to happen.

We are stuck with him.

There is also the small matter of us fast becoming a permanent fixture in league 1.......can't see us enticing Sir Alex Ferguson outta retirement anytime soon.

What about a thread for replacement fans for those who give up way to easy

they moan about Clough but give up after our first away loss in months

This is our fourth season in this league. Since 2004 only Brighton and Rotherham have had longer between getting relegated from the second division and getting back into it.

Which backs up what I have said on other threads; we are the biggest club to have stayed in the third tier of English football, for consecutive seasons. Not a record to be proud of!

Indeed. We are languishing. We are going to be in this division again next season. If the fans are pissed off about that I don't blame them. I am. Maybe I've been corrupted by Sky Sports, the Premier League, the Rumbelows Cup, Richard Keyes, Scudamore and Footballers Wives, but I think Sheffield United ought to be playing at a level above the third division.

Mark Cooper, of dirty, cheating, pass and move maestros Swindle Town? Or is it all down to the Prem loanees they get over there? Passed us off the park last week (but not so good at getting past our keeper, admittedly)

Nigel Clough to stay.

Oh Swiss has Clough secretly taken over your account? Why will he do any better next season? The board will give him hardly any funds due to the shite he has brought in, then when we are middle table at Christmas he'll get the sack and off we go again saving the season. By then the investors will be bored stiff moved on and our Kevin running things on a shoe string giving a new gaffer sod all to spend. Any decent players will have to be sold to fund KMc's lifestyle and off he will go looking for investment once again.

Seriously Swiss if we don't go up this season what makes you think he will do better next?

1) My first and favourite candidate would be Paul Cook. I did my work experince at Chesterfield and the project and attention to detail Paul takes is phenominal. He has also litreally had a very small budget at Chesterfield and has done very well at recruitment and devloped Eoin Doyle into a goalscorer. His football is very enterntaing and that shows with them beating Colchester 6-0. He also unlike Clough sets up to win. He also won L2 last season and has taken Chesterfield into the play offs. Paul is a man motivator and will get the players up for games like Yeovil, unllike Clough.

2) Nigel Adkins, has 2 promotions from this league and is out of a job. He showed he can take teams straight up as he took Southampton from L1 up to Champ then to PL. He also signed many good players for Southampton such as Rickie Lambert i think. He will set up the team to win too and play very good football.

3) Chris Morgan, i would let Chris have a crack at it next season. He will play fast attacking football and tighten up the defence. He also is a man motivator as we already know of. Morgan would set up to win and hopefully interigate the youngsters into the squad such as DCL.

Tell me your views.

NO STICK PLEASE.

Gus Poyet end of

I'm happy with clough, bought well and needs a settled side. A few tweaks and we'll keep improving.

Invest in what we have, keep the stability and let's not keep thinking that changing managers is the answer.

Yep he's brought in some cracking players - but not just that he's brought out the best in many of the players we had before and brought some of the kids through. The academy now links up well with the development squad and the first team.

He sets the side up well tactically, needs a few tweaks at times but it's the way forward.

Long may clough continue.

You make him sound like a genius, so I am not sure what tactical tweaks you're talking about?

Gus Poyet end of

That would be catastophic and result in us going down to the 4th tier. Gus Poyet has done nothing in management, at least Clough has a track record for stability.

Also, our fans don't particularly appreciate the details of possession based football, they like an up an at em style. If they think Cloughs football is boring and sideways they would hate Poyet's.

clough will bring success to this club if given time. Look at Steve Coterill. If we had suggested Coterill as manager after wier was sacked everyone wold have lost their mind - he has done nothing as a manager in the past decade, never had a particularly decent style, forest fans hated him because of the 'hoof', yet somehow something's clicked this year and he's won the league 1 double!

Clough should be given time regardless of how this year finishes up, he will find the balance next year if we don't go up this.

Did Poyet not take Brighton up from this division?

Don't we hold the record for the longest stretch in the championship as well?

Apologies, your right he did in his second season. My mistake. however, he's also been shite this year, and very nearly went down last year.

Now if you were a Sunderland fan would you have wanted the club to stick with him or sack him? If your answer is stick with him, then why dont you want us to stick with Clough? If your answer is sack him, then why would you want him as our next manager?

That's a joke post right :? :? :?

1. I did my work experience at Lee Steel Wire (Limited) in Ecclesfield., The gaffer there was called Mr Pickles, i wouldn't recommend him for the United job, but the attention to detail he paid was indeed 'phenominal'.

2. You've spelt Phenomenal wrong.

Our fans don't like up and at em football at all. In fact they hate it and always have done.
We want attractive, constructive football that is going somewhere positive.
Nobody passes backwards and sideways more than Barcelona, but they strike like lightning several times per game, their players never stop moving and creating space and each player with the ball constantly has several options due to the extreme work rate in the team.

If one of our players keeps hold of the ball for three seconds their in trouble because the work rate from the rest of the team in creating an option is virtually nil. Murphy is the only player that can keep the ball at his feet but his only end product most of the time is a long range shot at goal rather than a cross or through ball because nobody works hard enough to give him another option.
