Why not ? heard we keep getting one in the directors boxOh a Crazy German on ze touchline ... be different
Yep he's brought in some cracking players - but not just that he's brought out the best in many of the players we had before and brought some of the kids through. The academy now links up well with the development squad and the first team.
He sets the side up well tactically, needs a few tweaks at times but it's the way forward.
Long may clough continue.
?????????? Back to you?????????
Apologies, your right he did in his second season. My mistake. however, he's also been shite this year, and very nearly went down last year.
Now if you were a Sunderland fan would you have wanted the club to stick with him or sack him? If your answer is stick with him, then why dont you want us to stick with Clough? If your answer is sack him, then why would you want him as our next manager?
Premier league and league 1 big difference, he is proven at this level.
Isn't the problem with set pieces the fact that he hasn't bought well?Set pieces mainly
You didn't answer my question.
Also, I wouldn't say he is 'proven' , he had one good year. Would you want cotterill, Ronnie Moore, Gary Johnson, Paul sturrock, Brian Flynn as manager?? They've all had a promotion from this division.

And that's down to?The problem with set pieces is only Davis can deliver them where they should go.
The set piece delivery of others, as with free kicks is quite frankly abysmal.
Do we not have ANY players that loves footy that much, that they stay behind after training (like Beckham did) and practice.
I have watched many many free kicks this season be put in a space aiming for ONE player. Now if that ball is too long, it quite simply goes out of play and is wasted. The theory of ANY free kick is you practice moving off the ball and putting it in a pre determined place for a player, with the option of if it is over hit, there is another player behind that can get it. It's not bloody rocket science, we, as a club are fucking pathetic at how we take our free kicks. Seen it all bloody season.
Sorry to rant a bit, not aimed at you - just the crap training techniques.

Some fans have noticed that others seem to do it thoughStill doesn't mean that we can turn a tap on and just pick a decent manager out of thin air that is suddenly going to wave a magic wand and everything in the garden will be rosy.
Some fans think that is all we need to do - as unrealistic as it comes.

You are 100% correct - some fans do see other clubs do it, but picking the right one is not that easy. Would you want that unenviable task and then be subjected to the sort of abuse McCabe has had.
The point I made before was if we did go down that path and we make 3 errors on the trot, you waste anything from 4-6 years. Clough is an SUFC seminal moment person, and if it doesn't come off, then the potential consequences could find us back to the problems pre Bassett.
The Prince and his advisors have put faith in a manager with lots of previous experience. No board of directors would trust loads of money with an inexperienced, untried manager - such as Lee Johnson as an example.
I have my issues with NC, but considering all options I just find it strange that some want him out.

Tend to agree with you .....
I don't want him out but I want him to change his ultra-cautious attitude and stop rewarding some player's poor performances with a shirt the following week.
Would also like to see the realisation dawning on him that we CANNOT go into next season in league 1 with such a weak, short, slow squad and that we need two dominant CH's and two frightening CF's. ( frightening for the other team's defence .... not us)

Aww come on Fulwood Blade he has had all season to resolve the problems and apart from loaning a dud from Palace he has done nothing to sort out the mess he made of the back four. Serious question ............ what makes you think he will change next season ?yep, agree with you.
What the "manager out" lot fail to see or accept, is that it may be no better with the next incumbent. It might me worse! but yes it could be better, unfortunately no one knows. Better for Clough to adapt and make us better. If it goes tits up we need the board to ask NC what his plans are. If the answers are fuck off, i'll do it my way or no way, then the board should ask themselves if they have the right person.
He should at least be afforded the chance next season to resolve the problems - some of us don't think there are many problems, but we do lack in a couple of areas.
