BT Sport have chosen the above game for 4pm on Sunday 9th March. That leaves our tie and Sunderland's tie for either Sat evening 8th or Sunday lunch

No way will we play Saturday late kick off if we're up against "The Massive." Even though that'd be way better for me as a fan (I'm only 27 but I'm old fashioned and I don't see why games can't be played at 3pm on a Saturday) and personally as I have a big party to host on Saturday night, and I'll be fucked beyond measure for an early Sunday start.

Sounds like you have the same sort of parties as Darren :o

You say that, and we all think this S&M stuff might get a bit exciting (obviously that's a liberal use of all) but Dazzlers idea of sadism is to line 'em all up and quote United goalscorers at them all night. Drives 'em potty apparently.

That's how he bores the pants off 'em - surely ;)

The only good thing about the early Sunday kick off is that for me it brings back memories of my first ever Sheffield Derby, Sunday 17th November 1991. Sheffield United 2 - 0 Sheffield Wednesday.

Whitehouse
Deane

Ahhh!! Great memories...

Blackburn play Burnley at 12.30. Is that on tv and will it mean we're likely to kick off after they've finished?

It is on Sky Sport 1, but as it's a different channel I can't see it having a difference on ITV/BT Sport's decision. Who gets first pick out of those two anyway...I'd far rather it was on ITV so I can watch it on TV rather than online.

I would imagine they will be planning ahead assuming we play Wednesday. With the potential for their game to go to a replay on Monday (I would imagine that would be played the following Monday) it could be a while yet before the opponent is known anyway.

TV overrules the police every time. We've played weds twice on Friday nights and the recent Cardiff / Swansea derby kicked off at 5:30 on a Saturday.

'Safety concerns' aren't as important as keeping Mr Murdoch happy (I know the FA Cup isn't on Sky). If the quarter finals were Us v Them, Fenerbahce v Galatasary, Boca v River and Rangers v Celtic, there would still be some evening kick offs.

I'm guessing it's decided which channel has the next pick (and what slot it's in) and they're waiting on the replay to see who to pick.

Interestingly they've set slightly cheaper prices should it be Hull than Brighton.

That is because the two teams agree pricing. Clearly Hull charge less than Brighton. Sunderland have to agree to the prices regardless.

The Blades haven't announced anything yet as i bet you a pound to a penny the SWFC tickets will be £25 whereas Charlton will be around £15.

Also, if we are to charge the away fans more than home fans, the away team must agree to it.

Alternatively Brighton didn't agree to the cheaper prices as they need the money more whereas Hull were happy with the lower prices.

We're scheduled to play Carlisle the day after, surely not?

Means very little Bergs, both Charlton and Wednesday play tomorrow and then Monday in the cup, I'd imagine we would just put the Carlisle match back by a day. Still, it makes the point that they need to get on and make a decision because of the knock on effect.

There could be 22 very disappointed Scandinavians in Sheffield that weekend then. Any good films at Odeon at the moment?

Just my two penneth. I think the only way we play Monday night is if we draw Charlton and even then i think it's a long shot.

Assuming ITV get the next choice of game, if we play the pigs they will pick us for the Sunday morning, meaning that BT will have the Sunderland game Monday night instead of the Saturday evening to avoid the Saturday night clash with sky for the Chelsea vs Tottenham game. This would give BT both games with no other football clash with Sky. (super Sunday and Monday night football both postponed)
