Are we expecting Barnsley to go up like? They will be the derby next season, the teams above them are way more likely to get through the playoffs. It's entirely possible that we could be without Pigs, Toytown and the Dingles as local fixtures next season, and if Brighton/Palace and Norwich/Ipswich can be called derbies then anything can.
So let's develop an unreasonable dislike of another team, anyone will do.
I'll start:
Luton Town: The M1/A57/A1/A6/A505 Derby or The Martin Cranie Classic
It's time these bastards entered our radar. I fully expect banners to be made of Cranie's face with 'Judas' written on them, and effigies of him hung outside Cricks. Plus their ground's wank and we'll get a poor away allocation next season. Booooooooo, wankers, Eric Morecambe? I shit him.
Yeah that's a good point, the Huddersfield fans were taking the piss for ages after as well, due to the Pigs usual arrogance and bluster beforehand.
Same happened with them and Brighton too if I remember rightly.
Probably. Like “There were ten German bombers in the air” etc.True, but singing derogatory remarks at opposition fans, most of whom were highly unlikely to be involved at the time is as absurd as Wednesday fans harping on about a game played before anyone under 40 was born.
If we played a German team, would we sing songs about the second world war?

Peterborough UNITED, almost certainly the only other Utd in the 2nd tier next season - so very much the United Derby. Expect a Sunday 12 noon kick off for that onePeterborough...the posh bastards!! hate em
I used to go to Leeds Rd occasionally and always hope the opposition won.I developed something of a soft spot for them years ago when I used to go up every weekend to see an ex-girlfriend.
Almost went to watch them play at home once, then it dawned on me that I'd be rooting for a team in blue and white stripes and quickly disregarded the idea.

I was at the last ever match at Leeds Rd. Warnock was in charge of Huddersfield. They beat Blackpool to go in the playoffs.I'll say one thing though, Leeds Road is one of those grounds that I would've loved to have been old enough to visit.
I started going to the football in 1997. By then, Leeds Road, Ayrsome Park, Roker Park, Burnden Park, The Baseball Ground had all gone, pretty much within a year of each other.

Warnock addressed the crowd, of course Hudds were the greatest fans in the world.
Of course. And his team was "the best bunch of lads he's ever worked with".
100%Not for those that were there. There’s a big difference between losing a football match and losing your livelihood.
West Brom for loaning Beattie mk 2 to usStoke City, for stealing Beattie mk 1 off of us.
Despicable.
Ah Blackburn, the old classic First Game I Ever Attended And We Lost And Had Two Men Sent Off And I'm Still Mildly Perturbed By It derby.Blackburn Rovers
Lancashire, play in blue and white
What more do you want?
Arguably worseWest Brom for loaning Beattie mk 2 to us
Contemptible.
The "bombed arrh chippy" derby.Yes of course we f***ing would ... I'll start you off, "There were 10 German bombers in the air ..."
Edit ... bugger Bush has beat me to it lol
Sheffield wed.....oh you said championship. It's entirely possible that we could be without Pigs, Toytown and the Dingles as local fixtures next season, and if Brighton/Palace and Norwich/Ipswich can be called derbies then anything can.

It’s a funny one because the ones you list were all pretty shit but the soulless monstrosities that replaced them are somehow worse but for different reasons. Another reason we should never leave BLI'll say one thing though, Leeds Road is one of those grounds that I would've loved to have been old enough to visit.

NO !!!! Don't let them do that to us, there's a barge on the river next to the ground. Pub downstairs, Thai restaurant upstairs, Oakham Citra on draught, easy stroll to the ground. Last time I went there had 4 pints of Citra, a blinding dinner, and we got the last free parking space right outside the ground before a 1-0 win. THAT'S how to do footballPeterborough UNITED, almost certainly the only other Utd in the 2nd tier next season - so very much the United Derby. Expect a Sunday 12 noon kick off for that one
I think it's a Sheffield / Nottingham thing. Its the same with the Ice Hockey, but in that sport there's something of a Sheffield / Cardiff hatred too........

In terms of intensity I'd say Cardiff games are more intense these days. The Steelers/Panthers rivalry is nothing these days compared to what it once was back in the 90's. But the rivalry has very little to do with the Miners Strike and more to do with the fact Nottingham fans hated it that a brand new club (Panthers formed in 1946, Steelers 1991) jumped into the fray and won everything in sight while Nottingham were getting a pasting in the process.
The Steelers dominance of the 90's slowed down come the 2000's & things have evened out over the past 20 odd years.
Steelers: 9 League titles, 12 cup titles & 10 playoff wins
Panthers: 4 League titles, 14 cup titles, 6 playoff wins & 1 European title
They still get big gates for the games, especially the Boxing Day games, they're the best but the intensity just isn't there anymore.
Weren't there a few run offs with their firm back in the good old days too? They were supposed to be quite handy weren't they?
I remember one occasion before the match sometime back in the 70s or 80s, I was in the Cricketers when, being upstairs with a couple of old school mates and their families, we saw a Scab out side (we were in the room upstairs by the window). He was shouting out a challenge but nobody took him up on it.
Next thing thing we know, as he's being totally ignored, is he marches into the pub, (I'm told this is what happened) and issues a challenge whilst also turning a glass upside down on the table in the old-fashioned way.
Again, no response.
He decides to walk out and it was then we heard the glasses smashing and he emerges beneath us absolutely covered in blood.
Handy, or barking?
I'm sure I heard he topped himself in later years.
Forest are in our top three anyway.
