I'm guessing for most it would be a sizeable wage increase to manage in the premier. Also, these managers back themselves to do well. To have United improve, and maybe not go down as spectacularly as we are now, would be seen by many as an achievement. We also forget that we are a relatively big club with many attributes, not least wonderful loyal supporters. Not many managers come in when everything is going well. A young Dave Bassett would have relished this challenge I'm sure.Assumes he'd get more, and even if so, is it worth it, as opposed to pushing for a playoff place in the championship?
Pack in a job where you are winning the majority of games, to one where you are on a hiding to nothing. Then next season be back in the same league.
I wouldn't do it if I was in that situation. No way.
The night is yet young my friend.I’m sadly not pissed enough for today![]()
Taking over a sinking ship with a chance, slim as it may be, of pulling off a miracle. Someone out there has a big enough ego and thinks he can do it. Who? no idea. But one thing for sure if there is a replacement, it'll be on the cheapNo manager will take this job ATM unless it's a Blade. It's career suicide.
3 should beWhen looking at potential managers
1: is he a blade
2: has he managed us before
3: see 1 & 2
That's it
No manager will take this job ATM unless it's a Blade. It's career suicide.
Surely the remit must be to create a squad in the Championship that in 2/3 years is capable of promotion and surviving in the PL.Come on down, we’ve just spent anything we might have done in January to make a change and I want out, but might not want out. You’ve got this to play with - which is weaker than we went up with - and has given up.

Trouble is our fans won't given any 'outsider' the time too build anything.I don’t want wilder back.
In that second season things were terrible. Granted we weren’t getting smashed every week but some things were unforgivable.
Playing that cunt every week after he’d down tools and pretending all was fine for example.
Trying multiple times to get paid off before slipping out the back door.
We need to show some imagination and pick a coach with a modern play style and match the recruitment to the style. Build something for the future like Brentford and Brighton.

Genuinely confused by this line of thinking - what is the worst that could happen that would make the future manager in your eyes unemployable?
I don't know about any young manager on the up, most yes but we have to find one. Surely, and don't call me Shirley, we can find one.Any young, up and coming manager on the upward curve will give us a wide berth.
Our squad is a mess and we are potless.
That leaves the Bladey Blades who probably feel abit sorry for us and will come in for 6 months to steady the ship. And the old has been PL type managers who no longer care about their career as it's done anyway... Big Sam type appointments.
Probably being the manager of the worst PL side in history will make some think twice.
That’s the issue, can we portray a direction and leadership for considering 2/3 years time?
In 2/3 years the parachute payments will have ran out and that entire team will have been soldSurely the remit must be to create a squad in the Championship that in 2/3 years is capable of promotion and surviving in the PL.
In the PremThis mindset has been there for years , Robson wanted to get passing football play out from the back , - fans gerrim out shoes off in car park, passing the ball !!! Ridiculous idea , Slav exactly same , what did we do both times went for tried and trusted and here we are
That’s the issue, can we portray a direction and leadership for considering 2/3 years time?
They'll be paid more money for oneWhy would they?
Indeed. New manager comes in and nothing much changes. The football world shrugs and thinks "what did you expect with the crap he inherited".Why? It's just what the new manager would have inherited. No future club in their right mind would give a shit about what happens in the next six months as we're down anyway.
Big assumption. And even if they were , it would be for half a season, until back in the championship. So that doesn't seem a big pull imo. They'll be paid more money for one
In which case, they'll be backing themselves to get promoted with their current team. Also, these managers back themselves to do well
I think he'll almost certainly sack him. The fans will see to that,as it will get very hostile. I think the Prince is genuinely giving him time, just like he did with Wilder. I wish he wasn't by the way. Not sure £3m is a lot of money, in the grand scheme of things, to get rid of him.In which case, they'll be backing themselves to get promoted with their current team.
I just don't see it.
Maybe PA would bring in one of the relegation avoiding specialists.
But either way it means sacking Hecky = paying up his contract, and paying the new bloke. Things PA hasn't wanted / been able to do.
If there was money available to stay up, he'd have spent it on players.
It's a big pull if for instance you go from say £8,000 a week to £16,000 for example.Big assumption. And even if they were , it would be for half a season, until back in the championship. So that doesn't seem a big pull imo.
We might well be able to offer a big upgrade for some of those managers even if relegated. We'll have £40-50m more income for 2 seasons than most of the play off contenders.Big assumption. And even if they were , it would be for half a season, until back in the championship. So that doesn't seem a big pull imo.
Stick it in midfield against Liverpool…..
Are you sure about the last statement? In which case, they'll be backing themselves to get promoted with their current team.

Portraying a direction for more than 15 seconds would have been a fucking bonus today. That’s the issue, can we portray a direction and leadership for considering 2/3 years time?
