Unless he said something, he was booked for time-wasting by not fetching the ball for our free kick. The ref fetched and spotted the ball. While he was being booked, we waited for a substitution - wasn't really a booking, but was a convenient one.

Read your tweets last night mate, helpful as always. The young lads who came on, were they on long enough to give you an idea of how they played?

Looked for you last night but didn't see you around, or was it someone else tweeting?

Didn't someone have their ban extended this season for getting booked on purpose?

Dunno, but the simple means to deal with it would be to make a deliberate attempt to get booked like this an automatic sending off offence with a five game ban.

The refs would need to do their homework before the game to highlight who might want to deliberately get themselves booked and have a word with any players in question before the game to tell them they are being watched. If we then get such a player booting the ball away following a stoppage in the 94th minute, he is off.

Or change the cut-off point to say 30 matches rather than an arbitrary date as mentioned earlier in the thread.
Players are being punished for playing regularly and being part of a successful team.
1 booking every four matches isn't an indicator of a dirty player and doesn't deserve further punishment.

I can see the point in timewasting in the 94th minute if you have a one goal lead, but not a two goal cushion.

Romain Vincelot: Leyton Orient man banned for deliberate yellow
Leyton Orient midfielder Romain Vincelot has been given a one-match ban for deliberately picking up a yellow card in order to trigger a suspension.

The Football Association found him guilty of purposefully being cautionedagainst Southport in the FA Cup last week to register his fifth booking this term, and he was also fined £1,500.

The booking meant the 28-year-old missed Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy fixture against Stevenage.

Orient will not contest the decision.

The former Dagenham & Redbridge, Brighton and Gillingham player's suspension begins with immediate effect, meaning he will missSaturday's League One fixture against Preston North End.

Players collecting five cautions between the start of the season and the end of December are automatically suspended for one first-team game, but Vincelot's booking against Southport meant he did not miss a league match.

The FA brought the charge "on the basis that his conduct was an attempt to undermine the purpose of the disciplinary process".

Russell Slade's Leyton Orient are currently top of League One, two points clear of second-placed Wolves.

Deal with what ? Its the rules ,just like Wolves on saturday you play within the rules to your advantage. The refs cant handle what theyve got never mind more to think about.

It would seem against the spirit of the game to do this kind of thing and I am suggesting a way to stamp it out. If you don't think it's a problem, that's fine.

If players were to get an extra suspension for getting booked on purpose then Michael Brown and Keith Curle would have been risking a life ban for trying so hard to get sent off against West Brom that time................

They didn't really have long enough to get in the game.

Both are talented lads though, Khan has really come on with a bit of confidence and a free-er role this year and Dimaio could be a very good addition to the midfield if he carriess on the way he is.

As with a few of the young 'uns, it sounds promising that we're managing to develop lads who might be worthy of the first team. I try and follow the young lads development, it sounds as if they're in good hands which can only help Cloughie in the mid to long term.

Thanks for the mail mate, I'm sure you're busy so I appreciate the reply.
