Most employers don't give a toss as long as it doesn't reflect badly on them, and your average Joe wouldn't be plastered all over the front pages for fighting on a holiday in Greece.

Believe it or not, gaining a criminal conviction is not (on it's own) grounds for dismissal or even disciplinary action. It depends on the situation and your profession, if (to use one example) an accountant got convicted of fraud he'd be done for, but people have won unfair dismissal claims for being sacked after they were convicted of a crime.

I genuinely feel bad for him.
He seems a really nice lad and I know what pissed up lads abroad can be like. I bet he got really antagonised.

I also don't trust the foreign bouncers or police when it comes to brits on a night out either, but that's another story.

I have my own story from a restaurant/ bar in Mykonos from last summer. Me and my missus both believe we got our drinks spiked...

After what we experienced I agree regarding security and management in bars.

In the end we called our hotel and asked them to send the shuttle bus, giving us the drivers name and licence plate before he came.

Amazing island but There is an undercurrent in Mykonos and we were glad to get off the island!

The fact that anyone can be found guilty so quickly shows how corrupt the legal system there is. I guess we will never be sure of the truth in this case but it all sounds very dodgy.

At the risk of sticking my head above parapet once again and getting it blown off...

As a HR 'professional' bringing the company into disrepute is the clause in most employment contracts that gives you the grounds to instantly dismiss, if you so desire. However, most employers would sit down and investigate what's gone on before making a decision as it seems with this case, there are two sides to every story.

However, the chap in our IT dept who just had his laptop confiscated by the local constabulary didn't have the same 'benefit' of the doubt...
