It’s on this forum now 🤣🤣🤣

Hated, adored, never ignored.

Please, please don't use that hated, adored line. It's a Man U favourite that infuriates.

It's normally used by a plastic fan from London when you are trying to have a rational football conversation. It is the ultimate in self entitled Billy big bollocks bollocks.

Nothing personal, rant over!

I’m not offended particularly by the mask. I don’t particularly find it funny but I can appreciate the intention of the humor and spirit behind it.

I also think if you’re wearing the mask of a guy that is held responsible for the most famous massacre of modern times, then you can probably expect a bit of backlash!

So, I personally don’t find it offensive or funny, but I don’t like it very much. I can tolerate it as one bloke as a one off, but I’d prefer people to be talking about the result, talking about our performances, talking about how epic our fans were, talking about our incredible management team.

And it’s naive to think that it wouldn’t have an affect on the commercial viability of the club if it continued and grew. Remember when the club announced it had signed its biggest ever sponsorship deal? And then we waited and waited and waited and waited. It was months and months later that they finally announced the sponsor. It’s surely not a coincidence that the long wait happened right after the Bin Laden link was first reported.
Sorry but the Bin Laden family loan is just pure ignorance. It's a huge family, they didn't support terrorism and by and large they all denounced Osma when they found what he was into they certainly didn't send him money. He's only one branch of a large family tree!

How would you feel if someone with the same surname commited a atrocious act but you kept getting tagged with it because of your surname?

As for the mask I don't like it, but it's obvious they Are playing on the ignorance of those going on about a loan from the bin laden family.

Does anyone really think that Prince Abdullah drove all the way to Saudi in an old Cortina, and came back with three million quid from Al Qaida? Of course not. It's a joke. He probably got a flight from Manchester.
That’s right, slag off Cortinas. Carist. 😆

Our fans were class again yesterday, firstly in Liverpool then at the game. Throughly enjoyable day out. Sore head and throat this morning.

Hear hear. It's as bad as saying 'We're all blades aren't we?'.

I find the mask funny, people need to chill and understand what joking is about.

Cue Bill Johnson flipping out and Brexit getting mentioned, ironically more 'snowflakey' than the offendees.

Not really. We appear to be on the same page on this.
And no mention of GB leaving the EU from me.
Blades won and the world is fine today.

I love how those labelling others as ‘snowflakes’ fly off the handle at the mildest pushback.

As for the mask, ill advised and open to misinterpretation. But probably not worth drawing too much attention to something likely a one-off.

It’s the kind of bizarre internet Americanism that you associate with 15 year old American potential high-school shooter types who when not making up phrases for internet arguments like “butt-hurt” are wanking themselves off to wizard porn.

You’d expect it to be big with the Games Workshop lads but surprised it’s made it’s way into the mainstream.

Or have a sense of humour. Bet you voted remain.
I bet you your house I didn't.
I just don't get someone impersonating a mass murderer as being funny.
If that's a sense of humour by pass you've need nelp.
I look forward to the deeds of your house, unless you welch on. Ets

I have a sense of humour.
I didn't vote remain, so you've lost a bet.
Are you one of "those" who find the Osama mask funny but spit at the TV over Corbyn the terrorist sympathiser?
My mate was late for work on 9/11, but he was standing close by when the second plane hit his building killing 237 of his work colleagues. One other of his colleagues survived but lost her parents in the terrorist attack.
Yeah, you've got a fantastic sense of humour mate.

You've missed the point. Do you really think that wearing a BL mask means you support the 9/11 attacks? Of course not. Its taking the piss out of the unfair media coverage.

How about wearing a Guy Fawkes mask? He attemped mass murder. Should we ban effigies and masks of Guy Fawkes? Of course not, because there is a difference between harmless fun and supporting mass murder.

Who's bringing the Taliban into it? Though I suppose it does rhyme with 'camper van', so that could be an idea for a second verse.
Signed McBurnie from the Taliban?

Sorry, I’m not sure I’ve been very clear. It happens a lot! I feel like you’re disagreeing with a point I wasn’t trying to make. I totally understand that the Bin Laden family are legitimate business owners and do not support or condone terrorism.

The point I was trying to make was that if one guy wearing a mask to be funny or ironic becomes a larger group of people wearing a mask, then it will unquestionably hurt the club. So, while I don’t have a particularly big problem with the guy wearing a mask, I hope it stops. I actually think we agree?

There's a difference between joking about mass murder, and joking about the utter fucking hypocrisy surrounding mass murder.

I'm not sure this lad went deep into the philosophy of humour before he put that mask on, but nevertheless I take that to be his point.

As for comedians who've actually thought this sort of stuff through, it's not a million miles from the Paedogeddon episode of Brass Eye. Chris Morris got a few things wrong with that, but he got plenty right. There are countless other examples.

I share the point you're making. Humour has to be edgy to really work, but I feel this is quite a few steps too far..
Saying it is 'British humour' is using random generalisation to get agreement. Would it be acceptable for German fans to wear Hitler masks and Swastikas and claim it is German humour?

I thought that was the funniest episode

Loads of SWFC giving us pelters on twitter with racist bollocks about Muslims and us being terrorist sympathisers. The Bin Lid mask is effectively a “fuck you, we are Blades, we don’t care what you think” response.

Plenty of British people find the "Windsor" family name acceptable even though one of its ex-Kings (Edward VIII) was a Nazi sympathiser. I don't recall hearing many calls about the name "Windsor" being expunged from history. Yep, big stink of hypocrisy around this forum at the moment.

I see it as playing on the whole "oh the Prince is funding terrorists" shite the media is claiming.

Might not be to everyone's taste but I don't think it was meant to glorify Osama or the rest of the Taliban scumbags.

You're correct of course, but it's an open goal for those with an agenda.

Similarly the great Jerry Sadowitz. He lost some lucrative TV work after implying that Jimmy Savile was a paedophile (it's one of the few clips you can find of Sadowitz online. It was during the scandal in Cleveland, he said 'There's no time to mess about, they need to send in an expert. Send in Jimmy Savile!').

Years later, after Savile died and the truth came out, Sadowitz started one of his shows coming out in full Savile costume, and apparently soaked up the applause for about 5 minutes. Bad taste? Sure. Funny? You betcha.

I get your point about making a stance against unjustified attacks, and that this, in isolation can be deemed funny by some. But in truth those fans who don't really care won't feel the need to respond at all and for those who do care, this wasn't an appropriate response.
