Madine or Mcburnie

I think the problem with Mcburnie is that we play him like he is Gary Madine , Jon Parkin etc ......

When we should play him like he was played at Swansea
It's an endemic problem in this country with players who are over 6 foot tall, if in doubt, just lump it in his general direction. Big lads need to be on the end of crosses, not punts from the goalkeeper.

If Zlatan Ibrahimovic was English, he'd be called Zack Abraham and have been playing in the Conference long ago

Play him like this. Play him like that. Call your Aunt Fanny your Uncle Dick if you want. But really, we've all seen him play. He's just not very good is he?

On his Swansea highlights I just posted there is very little he creates for himself. There is a fair bit of poaching goals such as rebounds. I mean they all count and a goals a goal but most of them are chances you should be scoring.

So you may have a point.

What is he actually?

Genuine question. I have no idea of his strengths as a forward.
The OP got laughed at but let me put it another way:

Role to be played - Target Man
A. Oli McBurnie
B. Gary Madine and 17m

Wilder spent 2 years trying to turn Oli McBurnie into Jon Parkin.

If that was the plan he should have just appreciated Billy more, kept Madine on and possibly had a flutter on Mousset at 10m because the other 50m+ he spent on forwards looks a total waste, (though I appreciate he got a bit back for Robbo) and there's a bit of generour recency bias there with Mousset too!

Madine is a vastly superior athlete, and actually leads a line and plays as a centre forward

McBurnie is a much better footballer but doesn't seem to quite know what he wants to be

You say that but mcburnies first touch is appalling and can anyone remember when he last struck a ball cleanly...

He seems to shoot like he's wearing flip flops that are 4 sizes too big for him

His touch in enclosed spaces and ability to link play when there are runners off him is superb. His problem is he's useless in space and I agree that his shooting is poor

When crosses go into the box he's never anywhere near them, yet Sharp seems to score loads of headers for us and must be 5ft 8ish, mcburnies movement and anticipation is just shit

Out of all our players I'd say the only ones who come close to having a superb touch in enclosed spaces are ndiaye or mgw, don't really see that with Mcburnie if I'm honest

By superb touch I'm talking little one touch passes while closely marked. He genuinely looks a much better player in those situations than he does when he has loads of room. The longer he has to make decisions the worse they tend to be

Id sooner we'd kept Madine and saved ourselves 20 million quid to be honest. They both fall in the category of if they werent footballers theyd be in jail. Theyd both be in and out of the local cop shop on weekly basis on charges of assault, and gbh (infact they both have)

Madine scored a couple goals for us where he absolutely leathered the ball.

I’ve seen nothing to suggest that McBurnie as got a shot on him at all or can do anything at all football wise, I really wish we hadn’t signed him because he’s positively dire.

Madine in my opinion a lot better, and much as I loved Chris - this decision was so bad it beggars belief.

Yeah I agree with that 👍

mcburnie is a complete waste of 20m madine was useful to us on a free and is just the type of big and physical centre forward we need just now

Madine likely to be leading the line for Blackpool on Saturday, him and mcburnie similar types of players and both Bell ends off the pitch.

Thoughts on who is the better player?

Not seen Madine play recently but based on his time with us I'd probably have to say he is better than mcburnie

Similar types of players ? In that they are both strikers. Madine, out and out target man, very effective for us in the run in to promotion. McBurnie much better with ball to feet, although he's okay in the air he's not a target man.

Look at that bugger playing within the width of the goal and always on the move. What’s happened to him since?
There is no way that’s McB , looks a totally different player , what the fuck happened to him !

Something shit or depressing at a guess ?

Oh dear me. 4 hours to respond and that's the best you can do? Boring.

Come on, troll boy. You can do better than that. Post something funny. Or something that's really going to upset me or stop me posting?

Or, how about this, actually answer the question? Have a point of view? How can we best use McBurnie?

Do you still have points of view about Sheffield United? Or does your well cultivated internet persona not allow for them?

Come on judge: let’s have an opinion!

Madine hasn’t been in CITV show Jamie Johnson like McBurnie has.

His one touch passes are superb……. as long as you play for the opposition team. He normally ends up starting a break for them.

Bournemouth away was a great example. Get it to him on the floor and get players around him and he's very good in those situations.

He's been really poor overall for a year but he's good at this specific thing

I must admit that I only saw the 2nd half of the Bournemouth game. He looked like his normal rubbish self to me.

Mcburnie at this level is a good striker.

Hes not really had many minutes this season as yet so hard to score when you don't get on the pitch.
This has been due to Slav sometimes playing just the one up top in Sharp. Or just the way he's got starting line ups.
Was Ollie injured at the start of the season too?

Believe that vs. Barnsley was his 1st league start this season?

3rd: he started against Huddersfield and Luton.

McBurnie started against Huddersfield, did nothing sharp came on late on and scored our only goal

If mcburnie had the same playing time as Billy he would still be on no goals and we would more than likely be in the bottom 3
