Skysports said:
Arturo Lupoli has revealed that Sheffield United are in talks with Fiorentina to make his loan move from the Serie A club permanent.
The Italian joined the Blades on-loan in February and immediately endeared himself to the fans after notching on his debut in the Steel City derby against Sheffield Wednesday.
Despite such a positive start to life at Bramall Lane the 21-year-old has started just one more game since and found himself on the bench for the play-off final defeat to Burnley last week.
However in spite of his lack of starts the former Arsenal man is optimistic that both clubs can come to an agreement which will see him continue as a Blades player next season.
"I would love to stay at Sheffield United, but it is up to both them and Fiorentina to sort things out," he skysports.com.
"It would be a great option for me to stay in Sheffield because I want to establish myself at a club now, after three different loan spells in the last two years.
"I got a call two days ago informing me that Sheffield United are in talks with Fiorentina about keeping me permanently, but whether it will go further depends on whether they can come to an agreement."
Settle down

Lupoli is hoping that both clubs can settle on a permanent transfer with the striker looking to settle down after loans spells at Derby, Norwich and Sheffield United in the past two years.
"It is always good to go out on loan and play regular football, especially in the Championship, which is a very high level of football," he added.
"But there comes a time when you just want to settle down and establish yourself at one club and that is what I would like to do now.
"Hopefully it will be at Sheffield United, but if not then somewhere else where I can get my career back to the top level again."

Hopefully this will be completed. I Think he could be one of the parts to the puzzle

I really hope he signs for us.

Then I can replace my webber signature. :)

Always thought Lupoli looked our most dangerous striker in the few times he made it on to the pitch. The fact that Blackwell wants to make the move permanent means he must also rate him. This begs the question - Why did "Barndoor" Beattie get a shirt before him?

Blackie (like virtually every Blades manager I can remember) has never seemed comfortable playing without a target man. Couldn't imagine him playing 4-5-1 with a lone pacey striker up front - or even two quick men in tandem up front.

Is there anyone on the forum with a coaching badge etc who could explain to me why pace (through balls to hit defences on the break) is less effective than high balls into the box to a target man?

Not here, mate. :) Deano always hated the term "target man" and considered himself much better than that. To me, that's him saying that the role of "target man" is a more basic role and isn't as dynamic or prestigeous as "forward".

LOL
"Meanwhile, Paddy Kenny has turned down the chance to rejoin the Republic of Ireland's World Cup campaign because of his holidays.

Coach Giovanni Trapattoni had a problem with goalkeeping cover for Shay Given ahead of Saturday's World Cup qualifier with Bulgaria in Sofia."

Yeah i saw that too rachy, that to me is shocking. There must be something very important to miss international footall for your country

He probably can't be bothered being back up.

I think he's still possibly smarting from the way he was scapegoated after the disastrous Cyprus qualifier away (2-5) and Holland home friendly (0-4). What didn't help matters much was that Cyprus had only ever scored five in a match once before (V sodding Andorra), and that the 4-0 drubbing was our worst home performance for 40 years.

Stan's tactics against Holland were suicidal, but Paddy took a hell of a load of flak.

But surely after a good end to the season, he would be glad for the oppertunity to make good that issue.

I take your point, and it must have been hard, but if the manager is willing to give you another shot and he wants to go on holiday, then thats hardly gonna make the fans warm to him

It's a new manager as well, as we have Trappatoni now, not Staunton. I agree with you as well about it not exactly being the greatest PR exercise ever.

Back to Lupoli...

The figures suggest that we aren't prepared to pay more than £1 million but Fiorentina want £3 million.

I would'nt pay 3 Million for him. I'd goto 2 Mill (with clauses)
