Lundstram = Dean Hammond

This was the first game I've seen him play in and I wasn't particualrly impressed. Too much sideways passing.

But to judge a player on one game is churlish so I'll keep my powder dry.

Replying to your own comments? We call that self-serving where I come from.

He was captain of Oxford (not a rubbish outfit, you might think) at 23. That suggests he has more to offer than we've seen. Our scouts and coaches will have watched him repeatedly and carefully, you realise? If we were talking Blackwell, Adams, Adkins, Robson et al I wouldn't make that point, but we're not and that now carries some weight.

Hammond was captain of Southampton, who got promoted to the premier league, doesn't mean anything

Scouts? Coaches? It's all about pixels on Call of Duty Championship 2017/18 these days grandad. Get with it, you're putting us on the train to Squaresville Man!

Lundstram was poor tonight. He kept trying long passes and they were generally dreadful. However, he does get stuck in, and I got the impression that he was nervous and trying too hard.

I was hoping he would be a harder version of Coutts, he's certainly harder, but a long way short of our Scottish version of Huddleston at present.

Still, the first time I saw JOC play a full game was against Southend, and I thought what have we bought, and now he eyeballs bricks just for fun! So I shall look forward to the real John Lundstram standing up.

But we did beat Walsall.

Fucking Magic.

Hammond was a decent player at that point, he turned to shit when he came to us. People forget he wasn't that much of a prick throughout his career.

An excellent point, often overlooked. Whilst we're at it, Nigel Adkins has been a very good manager, achieving notable successes. Nigel Clough has hardly been a disaster either.

Blackwell, on the other hand, nobody would touch, except perhaps with their very large hooter...

It does. He was a very good player. Far better and more successful than some Bladey legends I might add...

Hammond main issue wasn't he couldn't run. Lundstram can run.

When we signed Lundstram Knill made some very complimentary comments about Lundstram and emphasised how delighted he was that we had signed him. I think he may have used the word 'special' or similar. Got me to wondering who he might replace and I I presumed he would play deep midfield. On Saturday he played further up the field and I sense he did last night, anybody notice?

I think we fans need to show patience and support the player and the management.

No, there's no argument here. He did very well in Southampton and Leicester's promotion campaigns and was considered a real leader on and off the pitch. There is no valid argument. Just as there is no valid argument that he did well for us. He didn't, end fucking off.

the one thing he did do was show how to leave a football club the wrong way, he knew like every one else his legs had gone and taking an extension of contract was a very cold and calculated act to get the retirement pay out of Sheffield United, yes he had a family, but he had options to look at other avenues he had been paid well for very little return, during the season and would have had time to explore either other avenues out side football or a coaching role at a club he would have been more respected at, due to previous efforts, something he did not have at United.

But my post was about him being a good player for Saints and Leicester and nowt else. I don't need reminding what he did, it wasn't that long ago and I'm not senile yet. I'd actually rather forget about it.

Me too mate. Maybe he read this thread after just 45 minutes at Eastleigh and thought WTF have I done. ;)

leon was man of the match saturday for me

Lundstrams played less than a full game in total with 22 different players
Is it any wonder hes looked lacking in communication

Wait till hes had a run in the team and actually know who hes playing with

Good to see that senility can have a positive side, then.;)

Spoke to an Oxford season ticket holder today, he said Lunstram will be great for us, they are gutted to lose him. He's a confidence player but once he gets going he bosses the midfield.
