Welcome Positive Nigel
Nixon says this Man City striker is going on loan to the championship with West Brom etc in for him. Certainly one we should be looking at. Young trezeguet

We're not in the running for anyone now because Chris thinks no one would improve us.
Eh????????????????????
So we've wasted a month trying to sign a player we knew we couldn't afford as soon as Derby joined the party. He didn't actually say that Cartman as I understand it anyway. He said no one from League's One and Two could improve us and so we're looking to the loan market for players from the PL and presumably Championship. I guess we can't afford players from the Championship (that are better than what we already have) such as Waghorn.
So we've wasted a month trying to sign a player we knew we couldn't afford as soon as Derby joined the party.
Marriott would have been a great signing and despite the big transfer his ...wages... could've easily been met. Thats key isn't it? We can't have a higher earner than Billy Sharp at the club, it's illegal. With Waghorn definitely. What I find frustrating is that we seem to have little plan B, other than loans. I'm OK with loans but would rather us gone for a Marriot.
Without Wilder being asked (and he wouldn't answer anyway because it would probably mean slagging off the budget) we'll never know why we didn't go for certain players. We as fans think we know best but Wilders transfers have being generally decent. The January window, which most of us thought was great business at the time, has actually proved, thus far, to be a pretty poor window. Since all the players came from League One it seems Wilder has now turned his back totally on League One, for now at least.
That's fine if we can step up to buying players from the PL or Championship but we can't it sees. Catch 22 as many have said.
Derby's first bid was based on add-ons with less cash up front than our bid (supposedly). So we've wasted a month trying to sign a player we knew we couldn't afford as soon as Derby joined the party.
Which we'll have know before we started negotiations since agents talk. Makes it even more stupid.Derby's first bid was based on add-ons with less cash up front than our bid (supposedly).
It seemed that we were scuppered by Waghorns demands on personal terms which we don't have any numbers for

unless they were upped when he found he had the choice of 3 clubs - as per the kid stranded on the stationWhich we'll have know before we started negotiations since agents talk. Makes it even more stupid.

I would've liked Eisa from Cheltenham who's gone to Bristol City. He seemed to be a real talent, scored 20 in his first season at League level.Agreed re Marriot. Just don't get that one, but we don't know all the players Wilder wanted that we can't afford or his reasons for not getting Marriot, assuming he didn't want him. Maybe he knew Derby were always in the running and he thought we'd get experience of Waghorn instead. I think Wilder seems burnt from the Evans, Leonard, Holmes and Lundstram signings and only wants proven players at our level now. I think he'l change his mind though in future windows of we carry on being stuck in the present situation of not beign able to afford proven players.

If you don't think agents (scum of the earth) try to get the best deal for their clients and basically contact every club who might be interested saying 'can you better this?' in order to get a better deal for themselv... their clients - you're on a different plain to the rest of us.'Agents talk'...eh? What? Are you one?
Evidence or source that we 100% knew what Waghorn's personal terms demands were before negotiations begun?
Again, I'm as frustrated as anyone, but you seem to get very riled up based on things which appear to be assumptions.
The club itself doesn't have an agent so who did Waghorn's agent disclose his personal terms to? Fleck's agent?
I'm not saying you're entirely wrong, I just don't get what you're basing your claims on.

There's been an offer on the table for 3 weeks and we've finally said the other day personal terms stopped it. You think we didn't know what he'd ask for? Get real.
Right, you don't think agents talk to clubs even before clubs talk to each other.Sorry mate, but personally I'd need something a bit more concrete than 'Oh we'll have definitely known, believe me' before I wasted my time getting genuinely angry about it.
Right, you don't think agents talk to clubs even before clubs talk to each other.
They do, and then 95% of them which are scum try and find more money elsewhere.
If you don't understand the role of an agent/leach/scumbag - I'm wasting my time here.

Marriott, Eisa, Jackson, Bradshaw, Godden, Moore.
I'd have taken a punt on any of those, they're a better 4th choice than Caolan Lavery and they're not 30 odd with chequered injury history.
He would have been perfect for what we needed.
What sort of player is he?
