If we have serious ambitions about going straight back up,we need to be keeping the likes of Lowton at the club.We should be looking at keeping the squad we have and adding to it,not dismantling it.If the players are under contract, they shouldnt be allowed to leave.Wilson needs all the help he can get.By selling players again we could be looking at years in this shithole division.
Totally agree with your comments.
Football finance is a very difficult subject and as a "smaller club" in terms of financial ability to compete a balancing act is required as we will always be a selling club, unless substantial investment can be found from elsewhere instead of having to rely on one person.
However in the current climate no new investment will be found in this division, imho, therefore the first priority is to get back this season into the championship, and that means keeping the better younger players for that purpose and insisting that they stick to the contracts as signed.
As Eckingtonian says if we start accepting cheques in January for the Lowton's in the team then we are destined for a long spell in league 1.
The result will be falling gates and advertising revenue decreased.
We can live as a championside team imho comfortably with the current funding arrangements, but the Premiership no,unless larger investment is obtained.
This would probably mean foreign investors being attracted.
What always puzzles me is that I wonder why we have other directors on board who seem to bring little investment in to support their privaledged postion.
If anyone has the last set of accounts I would be interested to be to see a list posted on here of each director's own personal investment into the club, which should be tabulated somewhere in the accounting information.
