He'll be having talks with Juve next.

Good on him - hope he gets on well and can only help his development and confidence - that's if it doesn't get knocked out of him during this season's run in O_o

Here's the issue with juniors.

The Premier league clubs have scouts active all over the country and if they haven't signed a kid by 12 years old, yes, 12, then they nearly all stop looking. The big boys have found the greater majority of players by then. The "little" clubs pick up what is left or try and develop the rest from what is left. Occasionally you get kids coming through late, but it is not very often. Clubs like Rotherham/Chesterfield are very active with kids of 12+ because that is all they can attract.

Both United and Wednesday, KNOW all of the kids who are decent in and around Sheffield and probably have them all by the age of 8 or 9. For anyone who has been around Sheffield junior football will know this for a fact.

The whole country (football wise) already knows about Louis Reed - it really isn't a secret.

Being in the Under 18's is a feather in the cap of United, Chris Morgan (who I believe persuaded him to come here) and to Louis Reed himself. It can only enhance his position/reputation and at the same time increase his value. If he goes, he goes - there is nowt we can do as the 2 x Kyles. Slew & Magiure have shown in the most recent past.

For our part, to have a chance of him staying we need to get out of this SHIT division and for someone at the club to say "remember what happened to Slew and Maguire". Go to a shit club (Blackburn & Hull) and you WILL get shit on. I feel no sympathy for Slew, but feel for Maguire a bit, trouble is he will have learnt fuck all at Hull and probably not much more at Wigan. What are the chances that Hull try and move him out in the summer?

I've been involved in junior football in the Midlands for a good while, you are spot on Fulwood, very little attention given to the players after this time. And when the best of the rest go for trials, the difference in standard is quite something to see. And yes, the smaller clubs are interested in the "best of the rest" but the whole system is a bit of a car crash in my opinion. The percentages of success are nearly enough to put you off sending your young un to trials... nearly.

I have been involved in junior football for about 9 years in total but not for the past 10 years and have seen it all at first hand.

The very first game the club I was involved in was against the young Owls at U8 - they played at Bawtry Road in those days, but not sure where now. It was 2 x games of 7 a side and the combined score of both games (that is what you did in those days to determine the final score) was 22 nil !

It was quite an eye opener for me as a parent and what surprised my more over the years is how competitive it is - some of the clubs at the top are fucking ruthless in attitude - not nice to see really. As for the parents (of the top clubs......wow) and as for the parents attitude (particularly lower down the junior league structure) to officialdom ie: referees and the opposition - it can be nothing short of a disgrace. Whilst I am at it - the chip on shoulder on teams from Barnsley DOES exist - really sad to see.

I have lived life, enjoyed and suffered many and varied experiences... NOTHING prepared me for the attitude of some of the parents of boys I managed for five years in a Sunday side... As you say, a disgrace.

If anybody wants to jump to conclusions or start rumours... He's at Anfield today

When does he join the squad? Is he unavailable for scunny and Crewe ?

I seem to recall Clough said he joins up this evening, and yes gone for a week I think.
