Louis and his colleagues play in the National Football Youth League. It's often called "the shadow youth team". You could portray that system as a) an exit strategy for players who have been in the Shirecliffe Academy System, but haven't quite/won't make it b) a second chance, late development entry strategy for players who haven't been quite good enough YET to get a place in the Shirecliffe Academy System and c) a great system in it's own right, where kids can get an education, qualifications, experience AND continue their football development in red & white stripes.
The Carrier Bag Firm go to watch NFYL matches and have sons/daughters who play in the Sheffield United College/Community/Foundation system.
Notable graduates from the National Football Youth League (not necessarily with SUFC) include John Brayford, CJ Hamilton who was a Shirecliffe Graduate now at Mansfield Town (I think) and Marshall Francis who is currently playing up top for our U21s.
