Only downside I can see is, that we couldn't put away 9 men from the second bottom club!! kinda puts it abit more into perspective doesn't it!?

The teams we've got to play are all "better", so don't get carried away yet folks!

I'd say today's result was a postive nota downside.

We totally dominated a very one sided match. It was almost too easy and the players (like fhe fans) knew they would win. Unbeleivsbky they scored in the 2nd half and just shows what a weird game football can be
We'll learn that you can't be complacent even against struggling teams.

Don't disagree that we dominated the match, or that we won, but I'm not looking at today as a positive personally.

Against 9!! men, playing for a bottom 2 club, do you not think we should be sticking in 3-4-5 goals??
Shouldn't be missing penalties at this stage with this team, and definitely shouldn't be conceding to 9 men.
Some positives maybe, but some definite negatives also.
Let's hope it was just a freak, oddball game and a bump in the road.

On to Bury and another 3 points!!

To be fair, the injuries did take their toll, but according to CW all three are looking okay. Coutts looks to be out for the longest (bruised shin) and even that could only be a week or so :)

The wonderful thing about CW is even on a bad day we can still grind out a result. Under Adkins we'dve no doubt fucked that one up.

I like that we're 10 points above Millwall with a game in hand, that could be quite important.

Peterborough could be one to watch though - they've got a better defence this season to go with plenty of talent.

I agree that we should have, could have...buried them today but we didn't. However the 2nd half was very frustrating. It was a 7 man defence with 1 token player as an outlet. As the old saying goes, 1 man defending his house is worth 2 trying to attack it. Their keeper was also immense and on top of that it just felt like it wasn't going to drop for us. The final pass just over/under hit by a few inches; a slight miscontrol; scuff the shot etc etc.

At the end of the day though we basically won the match in the first half. They are on their arse and as soon as the second red came out they didn't have a prayer. Their goal was annoying but they never had a cat in hell's chance of equalising and were lucky to not go home crying.

There are plenty more teams to thrash this season and we will thrash plenty of teams, I am sure of it. Quite honestly I haven't seen a United team like this for yonks.

Quite. We played well first half and the second was just a bit freakish - their goal was a fabulous finish absolutely out of the blue. But no harm done.

If we're in the mood for shit cliches, then I'll also point out that it's not the 4-0s that win championships, it the ugly consistency of getting all the points regardless.

1st red seemed a little harsh - didn't look a red from the kop
2nd red looked a filthy, horrible tackle - 100% red

Will gladly change my mind once i've seen them on tv

That's what we thought, instinctively the first looked like a yellow and the second a red, even though Coutts didn't try and make anything of it.

I think a lot of you on here are rather deluded. We were forced into making changes to key players and still managed 30 shots at goal.

It's a commonly known FACT that it can be harder to score against teams with men sent off. Champions don't win every game playing at the top of their ability. It's actually a sign we will do very well. Finishing was poor but still came out with the 3 points

Doesn't look nice. We should be top. We should have scored 10 against 9 men and made up the goal difference on Scunny.

We lost the second half yesterday don't you know?

How many points did we get from yesterday's game?

I'm working on the first one being more of a 2 yellow card situation (although he didn't give it as that) which would explain it. If Deadman is as arrogant as people say, the way the player turned on him, he was always going to give something for that alone. (And maybe this is just me but watching the replay the defender may have got something on the ball.)

Watching the highlights it looked like a deliberate attempt to stop a clear goal scoring attempt and therefore a red. Or, at least, at real time, that's how it could have been interpreted. He seemed to go through the back of him, which you can't do these days and possibly had a little tug at him just before.

Not just that. In the first half, with our proper team, we played excellent football. The second half was played in highly unusual circumstances and doesn't merit one jot of the amount of crazy knee-jerking it has provoked.

But as the saying goes........ " It's a game of 2 half's and it's the result that counts "

But the point I'm making is they should've been an "easy 3 points!", we should've put the game to bed and we didn't, unfortunately, if you couldn't see that whilst watching the game, specsavers are all over Sheffield pal.

The point I'm going to make is 'so what?' If all games ended up how they're expected to do, we'd all make a fortune at the bookies.
No team has ever won promotion winning every game they 'should have' won.

And we've missed out on promotion because of it!

Any team, at any stage, with any players, miss penalties.
