So, over the coming weeks/months things will happen that will shape our fate in the Premier League. Now we are here I desperately want us to stay, bollocks to those who like the "competitiveness" of the Championship, I can barely bring myself to watch a live Champ game on Sky now!! Few points to think about and consider as we start to get towards the Christmas period;
Hopefully we will be reasonably placed in the table and have given ourselves more than a fighting chance of survival.
We will have some clarity on the ownership of the club, we could also, possibly, have new owners in place.
The squad will have started to settle. Certain individuals will have pushed themselves to the fore and others will start to fade.
We will have suspensions and injuries to contend with.
We may still be in the Carabao Cup, if not do we take the FA Cup seriously?
More than 30% of the BDTBL fanbase may have learned the words to "Allez, Allez, Allez"
Lots of permutations that's for sure and I am just enjoying the ride at the moment but you can bet your arse that CWAK and the backroom team are already making decisions that need to be made. Will there be a surprise exit for a player that's just not working/fitting in, (ala Lee Evans)? Have certain positions already been identified for strengthening? If a healthy budget is made available to "ensure survival" will CW use it or do as he has done and tweak here and there? Will one of the top sides come in for a player that has been outstanding in the first half of the season, (Enda, JOC for example)?
As things stand the back 3 are my biggest worry and that should be priority for strengthening. They are all playing at the top of their game don't get me wrong but have all made costly mistakes so far, Bash v Leicester and JOC/Egan v Chelsea.....(we could have been on 8 points and third without these mistakes) and my fear is that as the season progresses and teams start to figure us out and don't take us as lightly as they may have then these mistakes will become more commonplace and punished. In turn this will affect the confidence of Henderson and we could quickly be caught in a downward spiral. for me we have good strength in depth up front and in midfield but it's lacking at the back.....the thought of Jags and Stearman in the back 3 together brings me out in a cold sweat!
Anyhoo, just a bit of discussion for a boring International Break week!
