Yes, it's ideological bullshit. Who cares about the age or where they're from - they aren't good enough.

we don't know. .they've never played.. i can't believe they are any worse than the jobs for mates shower that we have now.

We could end up with a team full of Ironsides.

Degeronimo has played - looks average and can't cut it yet a league lower
Reed - too small and weak - age may alter it.In and around the squad, where he should be.
Dimaio (sp?) - I've seen him play and he looked rubbish
Kennedy - Plays quite often, followed by injury. I think he'd cut it but his body won't allow.
Long - Utter shit.

As far as I can see, the ones on the fringes aren't good enough. What evidence is there that those behind them are even more ready?

When did you see dimaio play ?

Preston, last season. I believe he's your son - so apologies. But I think you'd accept that his performance was miles away from being ready.

One thing it would do is set a lower expectation from the crowd. So even though the return was shit it might look better. Odd way of reconciling things if you ask me.

I cannot for the life of me understand anyone posting "play the kids, it can't be worse". If any manager thought that doesn't anyone think that he would be wheeling them out every week? They clearly aren't the answer because none of our managers have regularly selected them.

You can't judge a player on one or two appearances.

anyone over 18 should be out on loan or around the squad. Not always possible, but generally is if we're not asking for wage contributions.

If they've been out twice and can't cut it they should be released by 20.

I'd say DCL, Khan, McDonough, Dimaio, Long and DGL all need to be out on loan most of this season if they're not going to feature. Not sure which other are around the 20 mark. Reed for me should be featuring regularly.

You may be right, but that definitely explains why we're stuck in the 3rd division.

He's currently to weak to compensate for his height limitation, if it ever will.

We are full of midfielders who would be OK if you combined their strengths with 2 others. Reed is another one of these, but with age on his side to be fair.

If we stood them on each others shoulders could we play 2 in 1 shirt?

No need to apologise pal but I knew you was going to say the Preston game and yes that was the worst I'd ever seen him play myself. in a little defence though he was played out of position on the right he'd never played either wing before that day and the 2 games he's played the season before against rotherham and tranmere he got man of the match and the Preston game is the only other time he's been given I don't count the Fulham game as he and the rest of the team were up against it within 5 mins of him coming on as Baxterley and wallace got sent off lol

Just as well we've got a manager that realises that three central midfielders is the way forwards and 4-4-2 is outdated, eh?

Watched the U21 game vs the pigs on BP, thought Connor had a great game. I think a loan move would be good for him, but it would have to be the right club wanting to use him in the right role.

Can I just say yes the kid's would work if we let them surround a spine of Brayford, Edgar , harris or Wallace and a good centre half + Hammond (when upto speed ) coutts and Billy but FFS keep collins away his idea of encouragement with the kids is to bollock them remorselessly to deflect his own poor mistakes

I would get a couple of the youngsters back from their loans, get injured players back and take a swing with this:-

Long
Brayford McGahey Basham Harris
Di Maio Hammond Wallace
Adams Sharp Done

Subs: Willis, Alcock, Kennedy, Reed, Calvert-Lewin, De Girolamo, Sammon

Relegate the rest to reserve team games. The above couldn't possibly do any worse.

At the end of season 2010/11 when our first team were relegated from the Championship and our kids were playing in the FA Youth Cup final I posted on the old 606 site that we should accept league one football for the next five years and build our future around the kids.

We are the most patient group of supporters on this planet and after watching the Blades for over 50 years I was willing to be patient for just a little longer.

Of course we didn't and we've had Wilson, Weir, Clough and now Adkins. Would we have been better off than what we are today? You know what, I doubt it.

Well they took on board your suggestion of five years in division three.

Get shut of Hammond, lets things through him easier than the Dartford tunnel.

I haven't seen him for us so can't comment. The last time I saw him was last season for Leicester and based on what I saw I assumed he had to be better than anything we've got.

I think calling Dimaio rubbish is harsh. He seems to be one of the more consistent performers at U21 level and did well against Rotherham. I don't think he's the one to take our midfield by the scruff of the neck though. Just another neat and tidy midfielder who's unlikely to be dominant.

But I'm afraid they could. Has it really come to this? Chucking the kids into the hurly-burly of Division Three could finish some of them off. The utter desperation of a 'Hitler Youth v The Red Army' tactic illustrates the rank bad management this club has had for several years.

I've not seen enough of the young lads on the fringe but at their ages shouldn't they be making a bit of a breakthrough by now? You don't get many good ones coming through after 18/19. Some seem to have been around for ages without taking that next step!

I've been thinking the same so I did a bit of checking up and most of them are around 19 or younger.
The oldest is McFadz at 21, De Girolamo and Khan have just turned 20, Dimaio is 19.

Sadly I feel those four won't do anything since they haven't already. If they haven't or aren't at least making the bench at third division level then the writing is on the wall. They all need to go out on loan ASAP to teams in the division below to see if they have what it takes - no use sending them to conference level if they're to have a future with us.

I did say " seen him one and he looked rubbish", not "he's rubbish". :)
